You’re gonna fall in love with that thing, no matter how much you hate the color. Trust me. I liked mine so much that I had to buy a second one:

$1500 is an absolutely insane deal. That car is worth probably north of $7k. What trim level is it?

Let me know if you have any questions about the car. My 02 is a project and I’ve done a ton of work to it. They’re surprisingly easy to work on. They are such phenomenal vehicles. I find new features on mine even after a year of ownership.

Sorry, but there's no time for reading labels in commercial shipping. It's a box that gets built into a wall of boxes amongst walls of boxes that fill a tractor trailer, several times over on the way to your house. Packaging needs to be self supporting to protect the contents. UPS/FEDEX/USPS aren't private courier services - they are bulk shippers, high volume as fast as possible.
Effectively, "Fragile" translates into "I didn't pack this properly so please take responsibility for what I'm responsible for but can't be bothered with, here's a sticker."

    :)

Hey guys. I was gonna try to install my 5160s today, but I can’t get the bilstein install instructions to open. The only thing I’m really trying to figure out is the install sequence of the washers and rubber bushings. Below is a picture. From left to right I’ve got locknut, thick raw steel finish looking cupped washer, thin zinc cupped washer, 2x rubber bushings, thick zinc cupped washer. Anybody know the install order for these? Am I close?IMG_0392.jpg

@shifty` has a stack up drawing he can post. There might be a reference to it in the mega thread. I think it may be the 5100s though but I would assume it’s similar.

Yeah I just checked the 5100 install instructions and it’s just lawyer bs. Here’s the photo from the website. Seems like maybe the correct order. Looks like the frame mount would probably go above the thin zinc bushing and below the upper rubber bushing?? IMG_0393.jpg

Being that I just installed 5100s like last week, I can tell you that the kit will come with three metal washers and two rubber spacers. The oddball washer is turned upside down to cup towards the strut then there is a washer that’s turned upwards then a rubber grommet. After that you put it through the housing. Next comes the other grommet followed by the washer turned upside down and then the nut. The torque spec at the top I believe is 15 and the bottom is 67 if I remember correctly

Holy crap. Just worked on passenger side for an hour. Hacksawed off the top nut, but I guess there’s enough nut left that I still can’t pop it out. I guess I’m gonna grind myself parallel sides on the shaft and hold it. But the nut is gone off the top so I can’t hold that end. I tried to grab it with vise grips but apparently the shaft is made of vibranium. The vise grips just slipped. That metal is so hard.

Any miraculous solution ideas are welcome.

I ended up doing this with a dremel, it took several of those tiny weak discs to do each one... real light pressure.

I used a long blade on the reciprocating saw and cut through the rubber and shaft. It was a pain but worked.

I thought it was just me so I didn’t post it
I went from power tools, to hand tools to turning it by hand. The top nut sucks. To get it off I had to vise grip the top nut and hold the handle with a closed end wrench while also vise grip clamping the shaft. 1/16 turn at a time by the shaft. Getting the new ones on was easy though, of course.

Didn't know you got a second one?! I'm not on here as much as I used to be. Trim might be modern luxury? It has the ventilated seats and folding mirrors. I don't think it's the top trim because it does not have windshield wipers on the headlights. I would like a silver one like yours or a dark blue one. This next week I'm planning on doing the following to it:

    -Timing belt/water pump
    -Belt, tensioner, and idler pulley
-Valve cover gaskets, spark plug tubes- they are not leaking much, but why not.
    -Ignition coil boots
-Alternator- doesn't need it but whatever

My buddy had all the oil changes and diagnostic work done at Toyota. Anytime they said it needed something he got it done at independent shop that another friend of mine owns. In the last year it has had a new radiator and the suspension replaced. Tune up not too long ago as well, denso plugs look good so going to run them.

Questions- I have a bunch of them and will def be bugging you. It has a ton of features that I don't know how to use

I loosened all 4 bed bolts and removed the two on each side I’m working to lift the bed up 4 inches with wood bocks between the bed support and frame crossmember. You should be able to get your angle grinder in there if you need to use it. Just be very careful not to attack the frame shock support in any way with the grinder.

You just need an impact with the proper torx bit.
