What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Front no. Rear yes, but it was part of the rear bearing replacement l

 

Gave mine a nice wash yesterday followed up by 3 cans of fluid film to freshen her up. No rust on my watch.

 

Replaced the battery. Not sure how old it was but it was slow cranking on these colder days. Also just ordered new spark plugs and and a PCV valve from Toyota, not sure when they were last replaced last.

 

Did lots of stuff in this video. Basically, a new front end.

A few of my buddies do the same thing, but whenever they actually want something accomplished, they just drop their bikes off at my shop and leave.

 

I always hit the target, but i might wanna stay an extra day to clean things up. At panhandlemonium i wasted the cleanup day driving through palo duro state park.

Yoinked the chrome bumper strip that I painted previously. Needs refinishing as it was starting to chip a lot.

Adjusted the drum brakes.

@bmf4069 bruh, I know I haven’t been around much, but I didn’t know you completely gave up on us, like this. It was your fucking calling bro. I feel like I don’t even know you anymore. Where is your 1st gen pride son? Geezus.

 

I wonder if the “magic” behind that kit is just a small inline resistor? At least that what it is for The KTM twin cylinder motorcycles. I remove the SAS (secondary air system) from my ktm 990 Adventure and simply soldered in a 10¢ 2.2k ohm resistor, rather than buying a more expensive premade kit. Then again i wasn’t really doing it to save money, i just wanted less “bulk” hanging off the main wire harness, so the resistor was installed inside the main harness’s loom.

 

So, I was driving earlier today and started hearing a screeching of some kind, sounding like belt or bearing. Initially, it would come and go, kinda, but didn’t sound horrible and my power steering was still working, so I figured it was safe to drive the 3 miles home to check it out. Parked and let it cool for a 1/2 hour or so, but when I restarted the truck, it screamed like a banshee. Took a look and saw the belt wasn’t running, so quickly shut her down. Before I get into pulling the belt and checking pulleys/bearings, anyone wanna tell me somethin I don’t know or take guesses what the problem is? Evidently, one of the accessory’s has seized up itself, or has a seized bearing. Not sure which

Something is stuck bad on your accessories, it shouldn’t be hard to figure it out. It’s probably your idler or tension pulley

 

That would be best case scenario. I’m gonna push on the tensioner pulley and turn the crank and see what doesn’t move, I guess.

 

Tensioner pulley is a 14 mm right?

 

Just pull the belt completely and start turning things by hand

 

I’m down to host one over The weekend at my warehouse in LA. I got 4 parking spaces

 

To pull the belt, you’ve gotta put a 14 mm socket in the tensioner. Yes it’s a 14. AND it was the tensioner pulley bearing that seized. Looks like I can just pop the bearing out of the pulley. I’ll have to inspect my belt as well, but I think I caught it in time.

The tensioner is kind of a pain to replace. To remove it, you have to unbolt and slide out the alternator and power steering pump. Plus the timing belt covers.

Just pointing that out in case you've got any other parts due in that area.
