Did you disconnect the sway bar dog bone? You will not be able to lower the a-arm enough to cet the assembly out if you don't.

Yep. Sway bar disconnected but won’t budge. Going to quit tonight and go after it again tomorrow.

We call that a tactical retreat, just enough time to regroup and reload. LOL

My experience has been that I had to loosen the lower control arm bolts to get the lower to move/drop to be able to get other things to free up.

Mark you cam tab locations first just in case you dork up and rotate one of them. And they are 24mm. 15/16” will kind of work, but 24mm is the right fit.

Casey - did you need to drop your skids to loosen the lca bolts?

    No.
Short socket on a long-handle 1/2” drive breaker bar, and then a 15/16” box wrench once I had them broke free (it had been ~80k miles since they were last touched).

I will say, my lower shock bolts were no issue at all though. Nut came off easy and then I used a punch (smaller diameter than the shank of the bolt so the threads don’t get fucked up) to pound it part-way out. Then loosened the LCA bolts and used a second smaller floor jack to move the LCA up/down until I could find the “sweet spot”

Ive got your truck except in MGM. I just added a ‘21 TRD Grill and front and rear TRD sway bars for Christmas. Where did you get your mirror caps? How was the quality? This is my next purchase.

    Thanks!

I believe it was around $180 part number is 55064-0C011-C4. Only issue is the air vent is chrome so I had to buy the black trim from ebay.

Did you have the impact on the nut side? As opposed to the bolt head.

No, I think this was my issue. I'll be back at it in a few hours. Picked up a few more tools (love an excuse to buy more tools) including a bigger breaker bar and 1/2" drive ratchet. Watched a few more videos. Method I plan to use: Disconnect sway bar, disconnect lower ball joint bracket from spindle to swing out of the way a bit, remove upper bolts, remove lower shock bolt after loosening the lower control arm bolts. Use my jack as needed to move control arm up and down a bit to facilitate lower shock bolt removal.

That’s how I’ve done it 9 times out of 10 and it works great. Sometimes a little pry bar action in the sway bar pocket helps move the LCA down to get the coilover bottom leg seated or unseated. I also leave one top bolt on part way so the bottom leg will disengage the LCA.

    I think you’re complicating things.

    Remove sway bar from LCA.

Remove 4 nuts on top of coilover. Ratchet or wrench will work as these are only on with 33 ft lbs.

Remove cotter pin and castle nut holding spindle to UCA. Breaker bar will work as its only tightened to around 85 ft lbs.

Disconnect lower shock nut with impact gun. Tap bolt out.

No need to loosen the bolts holding lower ball joint to spindle or the cam bolts. They are both tightened to over 200 ft lbs and could be a bitch to loosen. You can push down on the LCA enough to remove and install coilover.

See, I tried this method and after removing castle nut, I could not get that bolt out. After a lot of effort, I reassembled and loosened the LCA components and that was sooo much easier for me.

Usually 3-5 hammer taps on the spindle will release it (press fit). I’ve swapped out my suspension 3 times and it’s worked for me.

This looks right up my buddy's alley as he's planning to install a CB underneath his single DIN radio with a floating display. He bought the Metra dash kit but sent it back and bought the Dasaita kit when he saw it was metal. Thanks for posting these pics, Casey.

I installed RAS a couple weeks ago and its been pretty remarkable so far for ride quality and control. The truck definitely feels different to me. Haven't towed yet, but I'm sure it will make a big difference.
