So, confirming the signal you're running to the sub is routing through the LOC to the Mono Amp then to your sub??

I'm wondering if, for shits and giggles, if you can try to run from the JBL (aftermarket amp) directly to the subwoofer via factory wiring (essentially eliminating the LOC and Mono Amp). To me this would be the best way to verify if you are getting proper signal out of the OE JBL and the aftermarket JBL to the channels that should be dedicated to the subwoofer. If at that point you have signal, then you know the transferring of that signal through the LOC to the Mono amp is creating the problem and it narrows your troubleshooting a bit (at least I think so)... :notsure:

Got this working tonight! It turns out that for reasons I don't fully understand, adding the Amp/DSP caused the remote-out line from my LOC to not turn the Mono amp on. The Amp/DSP also has a remote-out line that I tapped, and using that to turn on the Mono amp fired up the Sub. I changed no other wiring except disconnecting the LOC remote line and connecting the DSP remote line.

Also I had the gain on the 400W Mono amp and Sub Knob on the DSP way way up from troubleshooting when I fired this up for the first time. Holy hell 400W is loud, I can't believe there are people that need more power than that.

Thanks @Snert and @Tripleconpanna for helping brainstorm how to test, I don't think I'd have thought to test this on my own without you pointing me in the right direction.

Woo glad you got it working! Always nice when it's an easy fix. I was in a similar boat doing my wiring and using Deutsch connectors for the first time, looked good from the outside but inside I didn't have the pins fully locked in and they pushed out and didn't make connection, couldn't for the life of me figure out why one of my doors didn't have any sound. Enjoy the new system!

Well after multiple years of contemplating if I needed this amp, I finally decided to get it and made the order yesterday.
Unfortunately, the install may need to wait until I am recovered from the Hernia Surgery next week.
Looking forward to adding this amp to the truck.

Similar situation here. I ordered James's JBL replacement sub on Monday. Had been thinking about it for a while. I did the amp 2-3 years ago and finally got tired of the factory sub and shitty bass. We'll see how much longer I can go before replacing the head unit.

I know, I know. I'll get there eventually. Just have other interests and hobbies that help my "wellbeing" too. Like golf, guns, beer, bourbon, etc.

Where did everyone mount the bass control knob?
I will want it to look as factory as possible.

Did you ever get the mid bass dialed in? I just ordered the amp so I am curious. Any video links would help.
    Thanks

I am assuming that I should adjust all settings back to the middle, (Treble, Mid and Bass) when I install the amp. Currently the bass is all the way up just to get some bass from the OEM system and upgraded sub.
Will adjusting the settings on the head unit make small changes once the amp is installed?
Do you find you adjust the new bass knob a lot or just set and forget?

I did change all the crossover settings to sound better to me. The interface seems complicated at first but once you play with it some it's pretty easy to make changes and if you don't like your changes, you can always load the previous setting back in (provided you save it). I didn't do any videos, but found a couple out there that help explain how the JBL interface works and how to change the settings. Also, I ended up not using the amp rack James provides. I placed the factory JBL one back on it's original mount and sit the new one on the floor beside it. It works better with my floor mats and is not going anywhere. Looking forward to getting the sub.

Thanks for the info. The info about the rack is interesting. I have Husky mats and was wondering about this as others say it does not allow them to sit flat.
When you get a minute, please post a picture of how yours is sitting. Did you screw the new amp down or is it just sitting there?

Also, If you get a minute, can you post some pictures of your settings you changed? This may help some other people too since they may want a new base line.

    Thanks

I don't currently have my bass knob installed, but when I get around to it I plan on putting it here through one of the blanks. I did a similar thing in my F-150 and ran it through a little removable panel near my knee:
    upload_2024-12-12_9-43-28.png

I guess it depends on the knob, but for my JL one, you can easily take the knob off, and then I just drilled a hole in the panel, ran the shaft through the hole (lol) and then used the included nuts to tighten it down to the panel. JL knob looks like this for reference:
    upload_2024-12-12_9-46-10.png

Ends up looking very stock/not noticeable. I'm planning to eventually install these seat heaters:250-1870-TOY Seat Heater Toyota Vehicles w/ Custom Switch - M&R Electronics Inc.
They have a switch for the Toyota spots there and I plan on moving the USB switches etc. around so that they're in the middle and heat seater switches are closest to driver and passenger seats

Here's a pic under the seat. It's hard to see the new amp because it sits down low on the floor. Taking pictures of the settings will be hard to do since you have them for each channel. I've shared my settings with others on here and can send you the file to load into the amp.

I just didn't, I set it where I wanted it and disconnected the sub knob and use the EQ settings from the factory head unit to control bass response

Fed Ex delivered the amp today.
Now I need to be patient and wait until I heal to install it.
Anyone want to come to Pa and install it?

Sub arrived on Sunday and got it installed on Tuesday. Huge improvement! I can actually turn up the volume without distortion. Not sure if it was the amp or sub that made more of a difference, but the two pair nicely together. Haven't had much time behind the wheel with it yet, but will probably make some changes to the amp settings. The smell is pretty strong. Trucks been in the garage with windows open airing out.

The good thing about the smell is that it goes away but also that the box is sealed. You could probably make the box a fish bowl as tight as it is.

    what sub did you get?

I’m about to reach out to james and get him to make me another box for my tundra. I’m going to get the seat brackets and move the seat forward.

    That's good to hear.
What are your tone settings on your head unit set at (All set to the middle?)
Do you have the bass knob turned all the way up or did you dial it back down with new sub/box?
Can you actually hear and feel the bass now?
Do you feel it still leaves you wanting more?

Congrats on the set up, and I'd have to think it's a combo of the amp, sub, and the DSP within the new amp :muscleflexing:

The DSP makes a significant difference in the signal processing and helps clean some things up that our OE head unit lacks and is a huge reason most start their upgrades w/a new head unit...

This is the next best step in my opinion to a full on system swap!!!!

I got the single 10" enclosure that replaced the stock JBL sub. It is ported. I've never changed my headunit settings since adding the amp or sub. They are still set with the treble and bass at the highest setting any midrange a little lower. I've made my adjustments within the JBL amp equalizer settings. I did turn the bass down some but added a little back in after driving to compensate for road noise. I'm probably somewhere around 0 on it now. Definitely can feel the bass now. I'm pretty happy with the sound, but will likely change out the headunit in the future. I'm really wanting Android auto/Carplay capability.

I completed the amp install today. Install took a little longer since I installed wire loom on everything. The amp was delivered on the rear of the board. The pictures in the installation sheets show the new amp towards the front. I originally swapped it to the front but then the factory connector that goes into the factory amp was just a little too short for my liking so I swapped it back. I then set the seat back to ensure nothing would hit. After some trial and error, I have it set so the seat does not hit the new amp and either does the Rear Husky Mat. I’m impressed with how it brought the factory speakers alive and very happy with the amount of bass it produces with the upgraded JBL Sub / Enclosure.
I ran the bass knob wire under and the center console and double sided taped the knob to the panel by my right knee.

I’m glad I finally decided to get this amp, but should have done it years ago.

I almost just left the factory jbl speakers in and just replaced the amp and put in my minidsp to see how far I could take the system without replacing any of the speakers but just decided to take it all apart once and not worry about it but I have always wondered.
    Nice set up.

Glad you got the amp installed. It should've sounded this good from the factory. Did anyone else have to shift the new sub to the passenger side? I had to move mine over to avoid the seat bracket on the driver's side. I had plenty of wire since I removed the wiring harness out of the old sub. I didn't remove the padding/sound insulation either.

Is the bass knob that comes with the JBL/Infinity amp? I couldn't get mine to fit in a switch blank. That's exactly the location where I want to put mine.

This is the bass knob for a JL amp. It was a very tight fit and I had to modify the blank to make it fit
