Fluid ounces is volume. 1 fluid ounce =29.57ml.

It is crazy...I don't even know how I correctly bake anything anymore. Did you weigh the flour? No, it calls for one cup...but it calls for 125 grams or is it 227grams. Crazy crapolla!

If we as peoples of the interwebs were more specific, this would be a very boring place…

All the talk of ounces and milliliters I didn’t yet watch this. Pretty cool being able to control boost and log data on an app. It was weird he didn’t mention which rotor pack it has. I don’t see how it isn’t at least the 2650, maybe the 3.1L 3 lobe rotor pack they never released and that’s why it’s a secret?

Imagine the possibilities...boost ramp to control traction, limit boost time to keep stock parts happy, valet mode, control boost if running larger pulley for elevation and lower for going to sea level, pretty cool stuff! If they integrate with OBD they could do things like limiting boost based on IAT or fuel levels, which could save people from making expensive mistakes.

I think we discussed an electronic boost controller a while back. I don't recall if it was this one, but SmoothBoost makes a retrofit kit for Magnuson, Whipple, and a few others. Unfortunately it appears that they are application specific due to the fact that they tie in to the Throttle Position Sensor to control boost, rather than vacuum. I'm guessing you would need a translator box to interpret the TPS, but 0-5v is 0-5v, so maybe not. Costs a grand to start.

Hopefully simple question. Is the bolt for the idler pulley below the Supercharger pulley right or left handed? Wanted to confirm before I crank on it haha, it’s an awkward one to get to. It would seem odd to me that both top idlers are threaded in the same direction since they spin in different directions.

Interesting video. It definitely clarifies the inconsistent amounts. Shows how spec would have changed over the years through more testing. The recommended amount is lower now than when the SC first came out but there is still an acceptable range that will still work fine. Cool info.

I've talked to that guy a bunch. They have a kit that will fit the 2650 on our trucks. Taps into the 5v output on the throttle body or into the gas pedal.

That's about it. Bolts right on. hook up power, ground, and signal. knob sets the max psi, and you can add a scramble button if you want. throw on the party pulley and you can dial in any boost you want at any elevation. he said they have some customers with tundras running it with no issues

That might actually be worth it to me. It's not uncommon for me to go up 2 or 3k feet in elevation, pulling a trailer. I wonder what other considerations one might need to make in order to keep from fragging the motor.

I dont think it would add anything new to worry about. Just don't dial the boost up past what your setup can handle. Sounds like the boost curve might ramp up different than the vacuum bypass, so tune might need adjusting

I'm always going up and down in elevation too, so it's at the top of my wish list

I was concerned the pulley was too far forward. I was able to move it back with the pulley attached. Answering the question can it be done, my eBay tool did not make any contact with anything but the hub.

Got 2 quotes for gear/LSD install. First was $1700 front gear and master kit, $1700 rear gear, lsd and master kit. This is a well known local transmission shop. 2nd is $995 plus shop supplies, tax and axle seals. This is from a high review drivetrain shop. Not only that, he scheduled me this Thursday and said he be done in one day:eek:

    Question....
Whipple vs Magnuson for the Tundra?
The price is close enough that price isnt an issue.
If I remember correctly Magnuson made the TRD Supercharger for the Tacoma and I was very happy with it.
I'm kinda leaning towards the Magnuson at this point.

See this is the kind of info I need.
Going into this blind really sucks!!
Back then the TRD SCer was my only option.
So what do you like about the Whipple over the Magnuson?

He likes that it lets him blow the tranny.

Oh wait, could that be in part due to biggest tires smallest gears (@snivilous ) and no trans work (modified valve body?).

About to find out! Had to go buy offset metric wrenches as that appears to be the only thing that can remove the 15mm on the crossover Idler Pulley. Toyota replaced my alternator under warranty believing that was the source of the sound (spent all day at Toyota… ya). Then handed me the keys and said that didn’t fix it and it’s likely the supercharger, which I doubted as I replaced the coupler myself 10k miles ago. I then got a mechanics stethoscope and Im no expert but one of the idlers was so loud with it you can’t keep the stethoscope rod on it, so guessing that’s the issue (TBD lol).

Twinscrew over roots- and bigger displacement. Easier to get to things in the engine bay. And it’s different than what everyone else is running lol
