First thing first pinning the thermostat and getting to tuning! Hopefully @JustDSM can take a look at my calibration for transmission tables before I begin!

I’m waiting on hp tuners to help with those tables too. I have to submit a trouble ticket and they’re going to look at everything. I’ll submit this weekend now that I have my mpv3 back to be able to provide them the log data file and current read file of the truck.

Interested to hear what you get back on your end.

Dude yes congrats. I had mine pinned but here in MD we do get 0-15 occasionally so might as well leave it. I’ll pin in the spring to keep trans temps down towing from APR to NOV. New VB here you come lol

Can't remember what everyone did - are you going 5.29 with speedmaster?

I believe there were 5 of us including ares35 that grabbed the speedmaster that I know of. The sales woman I spoke to said there were a bunch sold.

Right on. He will probably have his gears and LSD in before me lol. Still torn on doing it 1 stage at a time, or just doing both at the same time. I'm not 100% convinced on 5.29. I def think stock 4.3 is not ideal, but with SC you don't notice. 4.88 (in my head) makes more sense, but them I'm like hmm well if I'm going to regear, then I may as well do 5.29.

Yes sir the motive and speedmaster setup. Went 5.29 with my 35s, believe this should be a good combination especially towing in the rockies.

    315/70 so about 34.5
Chose those because they're the ford racing developed ko2 for the raptor. Load C. So damn smooth. Much smoother than my old 35/12.5r17 ko2 load E.

I run toyo at3 35x11.5 r20 pizza cutters because of body mounts back in the day. Probably go back to a 12.5 now that I've chopped all mounts. Both these size tires are heavy as shit......transmission sweats everytime going over Loveland pass with a trailer and gear lol

    Curious:

All this talk about 5.29 rear gears:

This can not actually work while leaving the factory 4.3 gears in the front?

I've actually ran a size different tires in the front vs the rear. The wheel speed sensors did not like that at all!

Switching to 4hi or out of 4 hi was not remotely smooth.

I just can't imagine how much the 4 wheel drive ECU would complain and trip lots of dash lights.

    Please enlighten me.

You will need the same ratio in the front, or the wheel speeds will differ and cause error codes.

Yeah you need to do none or both. Unless you want to do rear only and never use 4wd

This was my assumption. Just never saw it specified.

Anyone who wants to regear a 4wd needs to multiply the cost 2x.

Like me...hope to tackle the fronts soon. Either remove front drive shaft or big sticky that says: No 4wd, do not engage!...

Thus the reason to pin. Wonder what you would have been unpinned, probably over 225 at least

one of the best things you can do to keep trans temps low is tune it to lock the converter as much as possible in 4th-6th. it generates a ton of heat when unlocked

This! You can setup tow/haul for towing with better shifts and lower lockups than what they have pre-programmed.

Most of you guys running 35s, do you mostly run them for looks or do you really need the functionality? Genuinely curious. I have 33.5s on mine, load E, and I really dislike the reduction in ride quality and power and fuel economy lol. I decided I really have no use for the oversize tires other than looks, so I'm going to be going back to a stock size and lowering the rear. Just wanna try it and kinda be a little different than most.

I am in the same boat as you. I love the look of 35's but haven't found a need for them with how I use my truck. I ran 33's once, and am now on 32.5" tires (long story) but have run five other sets of stock 32" tires. The truck has done everything I've asked it to, including plowing through snow up to the doors and dragging the underbelly on muddy two track. Heck, look at what was packed in my spare this week from 200 miles of unplowed blizzard roads! Doesn't mean I don't appreciate or want 35's though... it just doesn't make sense for me.
