Yeah I would play with it for sure. I wish I had a better control value, given that I've not tried with stock trans and don't have that as a comparison. Take your table and add 50% and see how it does. I think it'll shift smoother. I wish I could have done it before. Better for the high load shifting, as far as what I've learned at least.

I've been planning to play with it too, @helidave is running +20% as of a week ago but I want to try it on my own truck before I ramp it up higher on his just to see what it's doing and not shooting in the dark, not that I don't believe Carn Dogg :D

Guess I'm really being conservative. :) I did have it at 20% increase but backed off before loading it. Want to se how the built VB handles it.

Like Carn Dogg said, Level 10 starts at like +50%, so I was of the same mind of being conservative with Dave and only doing the +20%

Can I ask which table you guys are referring to? I'd be willing to experiment a little with mine to see if there's tangible feedback I might find to share.

When you say stock tables, are we talking about stock from the factory or stock TRD SC table?

So from talking to @carn_dogg and @helidave my computer seems to be transforming the displayed values of the trans table, but the tune itself seems to have the correct values. I'm so confused.

When I first got HPT the same thing happened with the MAF table. Everyone saying it maxes at 511 and I'm like wtf, mine only goes to like 65. Took awhile to figure out you can change units

Earlier when @carn_dogg showed the initial tables I was thinking of you and @Ponderosa_Pine with the built trans from IPT. See how it reacts to the increased values in the optimum torque table. I know John wants to leave it up to the owner to mess with the trans tuning.

So theoretically the higher the number, the higher the what exactly? Is it higher line pressures, quicker shifts, and increased torque reduction (torque management) during the shift as you increase the values in the table? A 50% increase in torque over stock would make it seem like multiplying by 1.5 throughout the table wouldn’t be too far off.

I wondered the same thing when I first looked in to HP Tuners. I would think that adjusting the expected torque table would be more beneficial and easier than modifying a slew of other parameters, but the TRD tune doesn't touch them. So I have no idea how they affect tuning on the vehicle. I would love to understand it more.

My IPT built one just shifts so nicely I don’t want to mess with it haha. I think the physical changes he makes to the valve body does the heavy lifting. But curious how line pressure changes would impact it for sure.

    From my conversations with level10:

modifying the valve body is a method that you can use, but allowing the torque management in the software allows for a cleaner and more well balanced gear shift. Valve body modifications don’t tell the engine management to pull more or less timing. It tries overcome the increase of power mechanically instead of via torque management.

Not saying one way is better or right vs wrong. My opinion is that if the software can do it better, why not let it. Vs forcing the mechanics to over compensate. Then again, I’m no expert in software nor the mechanics of the transmission.
