they said Toyotas and Lexus vehicles they won’t do. Would’ve been nice to know before I made an appt on their website.

If a shop is putting them in, they should know which ones to use that are compatible with the truck (if they're aftermarket sensors). And they then have to program the truck to accept the IDs of the new sensors. Or, you can do it yourself with an Autel scanning/programming tool. (I have an Autel TS508WS & use it regularly doing a 5-tire rotation - don't keep the spare on board bc it's big.)

If they turned you away bc Tundras "won't register it after replacement," they're morons. Don't go back to them. They should know how to program them.

    Alot of them
The 2020 and newer doesn't like most aftermarket sensors but it sounds like that shop doesn't know what they are doing regardless.

Truck is off for at least 15 minutes. Key in position II (no engine started yet), press TPMS reset button located by right knee 3 times within 3 seconds. It will say "TPMS recalibration". Drive for 10-30 minutes at moderate speed, making a few left and right turns.

Any sensor working at 315 MHz frequency will work. IIRC 315.

Yes. The key is to see that recalibration message. And park for at least 15 minutes before driving to relearn IDs. You may need to erase error codes in TPMS module first. Battery disconnect will clear them as well.

That actually kinda pisses me off. I wasted a couple hundred on this Autel tool a few years ago and have been dicking around with it ever since to reprogram after every tire rotation.

I was one step away from buying it. Forcing the truck into ID learn mode was not straightforward at all. The official procedure is rather long and it mentions weird things, like driving at 37 km/h (eh?) and avoiding backing up (eh?).

    What I did precisely:

    - found which sensor is bad with OBD Fusion + paid Toyota block. The bad one read very incorrect pressure and temperature
    - replaced the sensor with Toyota OE
    - erased TPMS codes with OBD Fusion, just TPMS. Erasing all codes will throw OBD monitor readiness out of window, and I'm long due for MA yearly inspection
    - key in position 0 then II
    - pressed TPMS reset button 3 times within 3 seconds, the tire pressure light blinked 3 times, the display showed the recalibration message
    - turned off truck, waited for 15 minutes (overnight, actually)
    - drove for about 10 minutes, the light disappeared, tire pressures were still dashes, but they went away in another 2-3 minutes

    Done.

Awesome - thanks for the info. Not sure it'll work for my '16 (diff tpms system - mine doesn't show individual tire pressures) - but I'll give it a shot.

The basic principle is the same: TPMS module reads individual TPMS sensors in each wheel. It may not display the individual pressure, but interacting with the sensors is the same like in every other TPMS-equipped vehicle.

Getting my new to me 2018 SR longbed in midnight black to look less like grandpa's truck.

Had ceramic tint installed on all 4 windows and the rear glass. Ordered GTR ultra reverse bulbs, stock reverse lights are ass, especially with the new tint. I back my truck down my 100 yard driveway and its difficult to stay on path at night unless I'm driving ace ventura style with my head out with the window. Hit everything under the truck with fluid film. Installed a fumoto valve. Installed the intermittent wiper stalk.

Buddy hooked me up with 17inch Method 316s with 25mm offset black for a couple hundred less than the cheapest I could find online. Ordered the correct lugs from Method.

Now I'm in analysis paralysis on which tires to throw on. Probably going to go with Defender LTX MS2s in 285/70 17, but keep looking at Open Country ATIIIs and Wildpeak AT4Ws. I don't do any hardcore off roading, but deal with a lot of snow and mud being in Minnesota. Use the truck to haul motorcycles, throwing logs and branches in bed from clearing property, and hauling my 2200 pound boat. I like the aggressive look of all terrains, but dont think I will be able to justify them since I have a lot of road trips planned this summer. Losing any mpgs on the stock 28 gallon tank would suck. My work truck has defenders and I drive a lot off road with them and haven't had any issues besides a couple punctures from nails.

Future plans are to throw in a better headunit for carplay, throw on better running boards, install fog lights and low profile light bar, and throw on a larger fuel tank since I hate having a 280 mile range.

The surrounding trim pops off easily with a trim removal tool. I used a leather boot that was referenced somewhere here on the forums. I can’t remember the details unfortunately. But it looks good, at least to me!

Damn, that’s the frequency replacement I had bought through Discount too… Had it refunded this morning

I may just try and do it again and say I’ll re calibrate it myself either through your procedure or buying that scanner through Amazon. I hate going to the dealership

General Grabber A/TX has the largest side knobs in class that aid with navigating deep snow and some mud. They come in P-rating, too (to save fuel). But I would get LT for "set it and forget". On long trips tire weight does not matter much if you manage to keep torque converter locked. I'm on my second set now.

But if you manage to do everything on Defenders then your snow is perhaps not that deep =) Stick with them for fuel efficiency.
