Tonneau Drain

Now that the weather is getting colder I'm yet to do something with the drains for my roll top tonneau. Presently when it rains they drain into the bed, wouldn't be concerned but I have a bed rug in there and I don't want it to have stuff freeze to it or for it to mildew.

I know I'll have to drill to direct the drain tubes but want to do this as minimally invasive as possible. Let's see what you've done and used to do it.

 

I had a detailed post or two on this with sizes etc , not sure where it is, one of the tonneau threads

but 90 angled hose barb from the bed into the hose that runs up the side corner of the bed that way it lays flat under my bed mat

 

What if you park nose down? What about the thickness of the walls, floor, corners etc?

May be yours won’t leak but every tonneau cover I’ve had over the years leaked. I’m sure relocating the drain hoses will help but there still will be leakage

 

To remedy the problem, maybe a Sequoia is in order...

 

sequoia rear cargo area is trash, toyota dropped the ball on that with the hybrid only. I think its one of the smallest cargo capacities out there for its class

 

My driveway is flat so no run off to speak of, good idea but whatever falls on the cover would still shed into the tracks and into the drain holes of the cover.

 

it takes effort to make them tight for sure.

I spent time with the installs with silicone, weatherstripping, drains, etc and can get them pretty damn tight.

I have installed 9 of them to date, so lots of practice, lol.

 

I mean do you have a drain if the front wheels are lower than the back wheels, aka "nose down" or does it pond up inside the bed? Are there drains in the front corners? I have a spray in bedliner so I can't tell.

I know I can't waterproof it and there will be some intrusion into the bed but not nearly as much as the drains going into the bed.

 

Sure, I have another spare 80k sitting around, why didn't I think of that ?

 

Great idea, think I'll try to incorporate the 90's into the bedside just below the drains.
