I do passenger side, clocked away from the stock upstream sensor. It's easy to reach and mark. You can then unbolt the exhaust from the header and catback and pull it out to weld it on. The O2 bung from Innovate is too long, I cut it down to about half length too.

Ohh dang, thought it would be able to be welded on while still on the truck (with one of those safety boxes connected to the battery)

No doubt possible somewhere. The drilling through is the issue more than the welding. Since the exhaust is so easy to pull i like to do that and get a nice finished product. Plenty of people who have had fucked up welds and it leaked air and gave bad readings.

If you live in a rust free area, the hardest part will be unclipping the sensor connectors…

    whats "rust" lol

yeah, no rust here. In my head i'm imagining myself with being elbow deep from under the truck getting to the manifold bolts.

Well Toyota dealership is sending a tow to pick up the truck and see if the transmission fluid is proper. Also reached out to a couple transmission specialists in Denver. High country transmissions said they cannot rebuild. They would take out and install whichever transmission i get. Adam with Transmissions wizard out here said he could rebuild with better clutch packs, steel solenoid sleeves and etc. Both said they will install front and rear diff gears, mst kits and rear LSD.......so waiting game until I hear word for now.

A long extension on the impact or ratchet and they come off quickly.

Dropping that downpipe is a 10 minute job if none of the bolts strip or break. One of mine did and it took alot longer

If you want to increase your odds of success, spray all the exhaust hardware with PB blaster a day or two before you do the work.

You should be able to drill and weld a bung on the mid-pipes without dropping them. Here is where I installed my wideband sensors without removing the exhaust, and there is room to weld...which I'll get around to doing one of these days.

Naw. PB blast cold. Then drive, get engine to temp and crank the stud nuts hot. Use extensions and gloves so you don't burn your shit. Learned after stripping some.

This is kinda what i imagined doing beforehand. I'll need to figure out if its much of a difference between having it on one of the manifolds vs mid pipe.

Anywhere before the first cat will work, my setup is with long tube headers and the collector is further back, so it's probably not a good example for actual location compared to stock exhaust.

It was going to be: Bring to a shop and point "install it here"
If installing it on one of the manifolds, i'd probably remove it and bring it to the shop, so i'm not paying stupid labor prices.

Any reason why not to install it on the midpipe?

I love those midpipes, even though I think all they did for me was make my exhaust sound like I always wanted it to, but I just could never get the catback right with having all 4 cats.

The wideband should be at least 18-24 inches from the exhaust ports on manifold. Believe AEM is 18 and Innovate 24. Before the primary cat is optimal.

There’s one thing that keeps me up at night with these deep pans, even the PML that I run (which has some baffles), is that they don’t lower the sump pickup to the bottom of the pan. Just like an engine, all we need is a little air sucked into the pickup to create a momentary drop in pressure and hell could break loose. I mention this only to try and cover all potential points of failure.

Since we’re talking about it, has anyone ever logged the pressure on the trans for an extended time to see if there are drops during various maneuvers?

It's plastic, part of the filter...might be able to make a tube adapter that it slips into, then some longer bolts and spacers to keep the filter in place.
