Entune Audio Plus touchscreen malfunction

I'm new here. I own a 2017 Tundra Crewmanx SR5 TRD Pro that has the basic Entune Audio Plus head unit. The touchscreen has quit working and I have an appointment at a Toyota dealer to have it looked at tomorrow. I have a service contract which should cover the repair or replacement, but I would really like to be able to upgrade to a unit with navigation and CarPlay. I was thinking if the head unit needed to be replaced, maybe I could have them upgrade it and pay the difference. Any ideas on how that might work, and what would be available from Toyota?

 

They will put in factory replacement...only if they have to, under your warranty.

Anything upgrade or an aftermarket HU will be on your dime.....and not something you should even try to get done at a dealer.

Id let them fix it, replace the stock unit if no cost to you. Otherwise, and if you want other features, just hit a local audio shop and you can get whatever HU you might like.

 

Welcome to the forum! Like @frichco228 said if they cover it, it'll almost certainly be with the same factory head unit. I doubt they'd order an Entune 3.0 head unit unless you worked out installing it yourself or something. It's possible to upgrade from an Entune 2.0 to 3.0 head unit. Thanks for the input. They are going to replace the HU under my service contract. I may consider the Enune 3.0 unit.

You'd be better off replacing it with a decent aftermarket unit with WIRELESS Carplay and then using your phone apps for navigation.
You'll most of, if not all, OEM features and may gain a few more..

I don't know if your 2017 had a tire pressure readout, but you'll gain that with a decent AM HU.
