Looking to do several drain and fills fairly soon. Is there any reason to buy Toyota or Idetmitsu instead of the significantly-lower-priced Aisin on RA?

As long as it's Type T-IV, I figure fluid is fluid. Thoughts?

So long as a particular fluid meets industry specs and the manufacturers specs I may choose to use it (or not, for whatever reason). For example, I've used nothing but Valvoline ATF for decades and never had any issues. If a particular fluid brings you peace of mind, though, use it.

For Advics/Aisin parts that were factory for our trucks: https://aisinaftermarket.com/online

But their suggestion runs $10/qt it looks like and you can get 6qt from Toyota for $42.68 @ MSRP, although with dealer markdown and the 25% off sale that's going until Sunday, that's actually $22 for 6 quarts.

I'm confused, what's the problem here? Even after tax at $25 for 6 quarts and local dealership pickup to get OEM fluid it seems like a no-brainer ...

All of that and several other things you've asked about are linked up in this thread. I hate that we always need to link back to it, but the first couple paragraphs of that thread are a goldmine for virtually all the stuff you need, and has answers to many questions you've asked thus far. That thread is not just a "before you buy..." thread, it's full of our collective knowledge of all things 1st gen Tundra. Whether you need reference material, manuals, you're debugging problems, or want to plan for upgrades, it's all in there.

    Totally on it! Thanks.

I would have read it, but didn't catch my eye. Impatience probably.....

Yup. Answered my next question...basically, don't flush a high mileage transmission and go with 2-3 drain and fills to slowly swap instead. Thanks. I'll give the old fluid a check and see how it looks. It's the original fluid and truck is at 260k+ now....

Had a look at the fluid today. Despite 265k miles on it, think I'll leave it be unless a voice of greater wisdom convinces me otherwise. Still looks good....
