What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I once threw a smoke out that window which came back in through the bit the main window was down and went into my ear lit side. As I went to swipe it away from my ear, I pushed it further in. I can still hear my ear drum sizzling thinking about it. Needless to say I learned an important lesson about littering that day.

Changed the oil and greased the UCA's. 195,020.

 

Not sure what you use to grease your upper ball joints, but I use this. It exceeds SPC's spec requirements, and, for here in the desert, at least, zero issues with "thinning" and leaving surfaces unprotected and requiring more frequent treatment to compensate. Very happy with it.

 

Swapped out to a better radio. Put in a Pioneer AVH 241EX.

Yes, I used to flip machines as a side hustle though. I know the insides of a couple of big brands pretty well. I got that specific superautomatic when we shut down the office, but it wasn't functioning. Vibe pump lost its prime and it was chock full of nasty shit. Slowly been working at it, only thing that may need replacing in the mid-to-long term is the burrs. I looked at the brew count yesterday and it's made just over 27,000 cups of joe.

Biggest pet peeve with my ‘74 Fiat 124 is those windows/vents. They don’t angle far enough! Literally 15° more and the air would be right on you. But no- right on your arms. Not your torso.

It’s hard to see in this photo since it was taken on a grainy film stock, but they don’t angle forward very far. So close but yet so far.

 

Greasing LCA bushings today; noticed some pink stuff…… Found the culprit up top on my throttle body bypass hose, tightened up the clamp and hosed it all down to monitor in the future.
Also got around to putting 90 degree zerks on the rear Total Chaos shackles, should be much easier to lube those up now. I also checked my TB sticker; I’m at almost 80k and ten years since the last service, I’ll start collecting parts asap

 

After what happened to me recently, I'd recommend checking the fan pulley bracket's bearing function when you go in. It's not a cheap part, but you're there already. Better than going 1/2 way back in later just for that one part.

Bought floor mat clips, there's no floor mat holes for the clips on the floor. is this common to not have the ability to put in clips?

 

I need to put zerks on all my suspension parts. Maybe I'll do the OEM shackles too, when I try to add a leaf to my Alcans. Any advice for someone who's never added zerks to anything before?

I've wanted to do that bypass, but never found a solid "how to" thread or video. Probably better not to, since it gets cold n wet here in the winter

 

Your truck did not come from the factory with holes in the floor for floormat clips. I believe there was a recall in 2009 or so where Toyota installed holes and clips for floormats to prevent the gas pedal from getting stuck on them. I can't remember if our trucks were actually included in this recall, but I would contact a dealer with your VIN to see about it.

Again,I can't remember if our trucks were actually included in this recall, but Toyota 100% installed a hole in my truck for free back in the day. Toyota was facing lawsuits due to this, and anytime I take my truck to the dealer for service, there is always a line saying they checked that the clip was properly installed.

I'm pretty sure Aisin sells their comparable product for less if you choose to go that route, as well.

Your guys' might've been done by the dealer by a PO or a dealer did it without telling you. I distinctly remember when Toyota installed mine because the accident that set forth the Toyota recall was local.

Aisin is OEM on that part. Toyota doesn’t make it internally. Nearly all of the rotational bracket style parts on our engine are made by Aisin, with exception of free bearings. Aisin appears to use KOYO bearings in their parts also, but I haven’t seen all of them so not saying “all” parts. What I have observed is every one of these factory brackets and every water pump I’ve seen come out have Aisin cast into the housing. Plenty of other mechanical parts on our trucks also, but …. Dunno.

 

Yes, true, but I chose to purchase through Toyota. If someone is in need of the part and the Aisin is readily available through a LAP outlet, I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

 

Driver mat should have had grommet for hook. Passenger and rear mats did not.

These are original mats in 04 AC SR5. Can confirm that 03 AC Limited is same.

Along the way, had to buy new mats from Toyota dealer, and they matched original.

 

Were these hooks in the carpet for holding the floormats an AC and Regular Cab only thing? My 2006 Double Cab does not have a hook, but the aftermarket floor mats the previous owner put in has a hole for a hook. I thought maybe he just bought the wrong mats...

 

My '06 has the provision for the clip in the OEM carpet. But not sure if it came from the factory/dealer that way or what. I just know I had OEM mats which have the hole, and the carpet had the clip when I bought it w/barely 60k miles on it back in 2018/2019 or whatever.

 

Is there a hole in the floor to put a hook in? I think the hook just breaks off sometimes.

No idea what happened in the 22 years of life my truck led before I bought it. But yeah, I've got a grommet in the carpet and a OEM floor mat with a hole. I bought a '2-pack' online, without looking to see if my passenger side had a hole. It doesn't. And turns out each pack comes with 2 hooks. So I now have 3 spare hooks. If anyone wants one, let me know. They're plastic and I'm surprised I didn't break it trying to get it in the hole (...). Probably good to have a spare but I don't need 3. But...they're $5 for four of them online.

 

A little trimming for tire clearance. Pics at close to max static compression, wheel turned for maximum contact. A little off the airdam, a little off the fender liner, a couple solid whacks with a hammer on each bumper edge to deflare.
