I'm gonna cut to length plus the small lip. Then bend 4 small tabs around the lip of the cap so it seats in the wheel. Then use a hammer to flatten the lip into the groove in the back of the rim.

Think I'll make a jig out of wood that the cap can rest in with a stop for the top of the cap and a groove for the blade to cut so they have some uniformity.

A touch shorter than I planned on, but close to the flush look. My lugs stick out more than the other wheels with flush center caps, have to look into options there.

Just need some of those anodized fuchsia metallic, extra long spiked lug nuts like the brodozers have.

Nice. That was Phyllis, a G9. It was a beater that I treated as such, but it was a fun cart. I sold it and got a CC Precedent mainly because I wanted an electric cart.

Noticed a slight change in sound coming from the engine compartment while at idle. Popped the hood when I got home and discovered the fan had a slight wobble. Upon further inspection, I found very fine metallic dust on the fan pulley bracket:

    20241026_104228.jpg

Bought a new OEM one and replaced it. That's an expensive little part.

For sure. I caught it at the warning stage. I'm sure it would have been howling in due time. I'm a bit of an oddball in that I don't listen to music, etc., when I'm in the truck, so I'm pretty well attuned to any changes in sounds it may make.

On my camping trips i might listen to a little music, some podcasts but mostly just the sound of my truck and the open road!

What's your mileage? I know that when things finally give can vary widely truck to truck, but when I had a mechanic do my timing belt/water pump job, he found that fan pulley was a bit loose. Not terrible, but one of those "I'm holding it in my hand right now, do you want me to go ahead and replace it?" kind of deals. That was at ~230,000 miles.

The current milage is ~ 223k, I believe. I did the TB job in April of '22 when there was ~ 218k on it. No indication of impending failure at that time or I would have done it then.

Yes, and I believe getting that kind of economy out of a product is pretty damn good. Doubt I'll ever have to replace it again. Time to move on to the next thing :D

There have been people who don’t catch that so their radiator does when the fan assembly flies off. Haven’t heard it happening on a Tundra though.

Night & Day.. Crazy how much new headlamp assemblies can change the look of your truck. Went with the Y7S mini projectors W/ fans (apparently, thought I ordered fanless).

I think they look slick, excited to see how they look at night.

I am still overly pleased with mine. Best $40 I’ve spent on lighting.

My bearing bracket had a wobble. At higher rmp the (old) fan would flex and strike the coolant inlet. It also made a hell of a WHUUURRR at about 3-4k rpm.
I let it go too long, stomped the gas one day, and the fan exploded and took out my radiator with it.
I actually thought it was just the fan, until I got everything apart and spun the fan bracket all by itself.

Ever since I completed the tune up of my truck last week it’s incredible how well these trucks drive. The 4.7 may not be a powerhouse but when they are running right it may be one of the smoothest running trucks I’ve ever been in. Did the tb wp/plugs/pcv valve and clean the throttle body and maf.
