the o2 option is for the additional sensor for the afr gauges we run being supercharged. This is not needed if you you’re not supercharged.

I asked this question too and the answer was you can do it without a lift if you don’t mind cutting the factory midpipes. If you want them in one piece you need a lift, which is why I haven’t done them myself yet. They’re getting put on this week finally.

Got the truck back with the SPD midpipes and currently has the DD TRD replacement system with an X pipe, 16” mufflers and resonators. It is insane how much louder it is. It sounds pretty amazing, I just hope it’s tolerable when towing. Sounds very similar to the full SPD setup from what I can tell. I’ll have to get a better video asap. When I have time I’d like to swap in the TRD duals for comparison. Very pleased though! No CELs so far and no bad exhaust odor, just the odor from the new pipes with the oily residue burning off. Idle sounds quiet with a bit more burble, and a way better sound at startup. Light throttle isn’t much different at all, but start putting it under any kind of load and it gets way louder very fast. It’s fun to have the sound finally match how quickly it moves. One sad note as mentioned by others, the SC whine is harder to hear now. A quick video of rolling into the throttle, not going too crazy. https://vimeo.com/1026724322

Gonna see if I can come up with some type of exit for this system. Worst case I use this to build the exhaust for my k5 crawler.

The midpipes are definitely key to unleashing the beast as far as sound on these trucks.

I had just finished towing my camper home on a long trip and it was good and hot. Lately when it’s hot the truck starts nearly as soon as it starts cranking and it occasionally makes that sound. Ironically the polar opposite of the extended crank start I used to have on occasion. It may even be the starter gear disengaging.

My 45's just showed up. Looks like it'll be perfect. Gonna clamp everything together and see how it does and then order a couple of tips to bring it fully out past the fender.

Proof of concept right here. Initial start up and rev’s show it’s gotten the sound outside and not inside. If this works I’ll weld it up and make them even and get some tips on there. They look low but they are about an inch and a half below the fender. It looks like with some finesse from a hammer I can get them a bit higher.

The reason that I ask, is that my truck was doing the same thing when I was having all that trouble with the 750cc FiveO injectors that were giving me extended cranks. It wouldn't do it with any other injectors. I even made a video of it. I'll see if I can scratch it up . . .

    Edit:
I found it, I'll upload it to YT and post the link this evening.

Yes, with shocks through the bed. Actually moving to larger rear shocks, and bump stops along with reworking the bedcage.

Got them tacked up. Didn’t come out as level as I wanted but look ok. Should be able to weld them up tomorrow and see how it works.

Sound wise not at all. Pipes are all still equal length give or take an inch. I emailed SPD about it and they said the equal length only matters prior to the merge at the x-pipe. I’m just trying to get the volume down in the cab. It’s not bad but towing uphill or cruising at 85mph and it can get loud. Also, I like to tinker.

I know that we're going off on a tangent here, but here's what my starts were sounding like. But as mentioned, it was only with that one set of injectors.

New hypothesis… maybe a fuel injector leaking down while the truck is off. If started quickly enough after shut down not enough fuel has leaked to cause the knock, and contrary if you wait long enough it has enough time to evaporate. Start in that 10-20 minute window and there is a puddle of fuel that causes that knock at startup.

Weelll, mine was doing it for every hot start. Either way, I sent them back and was sent a replacement set, which also gave me the irritating long/rich cranks. The replacements also gave me the long/rich cranks, but as soon as I discovered that, I removed them as well. They weren't installed long enough to determine if there was a cranking knock. I had had enough of dealing with that crap.

Mostly. Right about 1800rpm it gets loud inside but still the same 80db level it was before. Above or below that it’s dead quiet.
