Curious If anyone as done a diesel heater in their truck bed with the heater bolted to the bed and the tank mounted under the bed. That or if anyone has installed an entire unit with tank under the truck with the air vent plumbed to the floor of the bed. Would need to install a custom diesel fill port on the quarter panel. Not sure if there is room for a tank and or the whole unit underneath . 2005 AC. Prepping for a hiatus camper.

I have one in my promaster van under the passenger seat but it's plumbed into my actual diesel gas tank. Selling the van and prepping the truck.

I would probably do a rear bumper with swing out spare tire rack. Hinged license plate with fill tube behind it.

The fuel pump design for a diesel heater like it when the fuel tank is located slightly above the heater unit.

I haven’t started on this yet, but I’m in the same place you were in May. My Hiaitus is due in April ‘25 - vertical walls/double doors.

Looking at an Espar in one of the side benches (they are remarkably compact!), with the tank (3 gal fuel cell) underneath the bed; filled through a flush mount port in the rear corner of the bed that will be clear because that will be where the chainsaw lives. Still cant decide between gas and diesel…. What did you do?

How are you liking the Hiatus? Anything you would do differently?

I'm pretty sure that member is permabanned, hence the line thru their name for the last quite-a-while. I don't think they can respond to you if so. Y'all are also in different generation Tundras, he has a 1st gen.

Thanks! Completely spaced out what the line meant. Just trying to get opinions on under-bed tank mounting experiences and the Hiatus camper. Figured the tank mount would be similar across generations. I’ll have to start my own thread.
