So is There a Fix Yet for the Fuel Gauge Issue for the 2024 Tundras?

So the good news is that I got the alert, 2 months and 1 week after buying the Tundra, that I can now order the second key to my 2024 Limited. The bad news is that I experienced the fuel gauge issue for the third time (each time it happens when the truck is parked for an extended period of time on in incline in a driveway).

Is there a fix for this yet? I haven't contacted a dealer about the fuel gauge issue but I defintely will mention it when I get the second key. I was also going to call Toyota Customer Service to find out if there is a fix coming. I have no problem doing the reset but I shouldn't have to worry about parking the truck on an incline either.

Haven't seen anything posted about a fix yet. It's only happened to me a few times over the past year. Always at the boat ramp but not every time for sure.

I'm actually sitting at my local Toyota now for my final free service and to have them look at the fuel gauge. About a week ago it reset itself to full when it was about 3/4 full and luckily it has stayed that way and I was able to show the tech what it is doing. Hopefully I have something positive to share after today but I'm not holding my breath.

I asked my service advisor about this during my first service well over a year ago. He didn't know anything about but said to check back in 6 months. That was well over a year ago!

So don't hold your breath that a solution will be there anytime soon.

This is what my local Toyota repair shop just sent me in regards to my fuel gauge not functioning properly,
    Screenshot_20241101_101255_Chrome.jpg

Essentially they said there is nothing wrong with it and functions as it should.

    WOW!

Maybe we need to disconnect the battery when filling! How do you "completely" turn off the truck?

Right! I guess all of us leave our trucks running when we get home or wherever the **** we go. Typical we have no answer and do not trust the users complaint response!

It might be easier for Toyota to add a button next to the other buttons on the left panel. This could be a fuel gauge reset button and you can just push it whenever you want.

Mine will have the TRD red bezel so I can find it in the event of a fuel gauge reset emergency! :)

They will tell you to pound sand, or maybe politely using nicer words. For warranty work, it need error codes that can be duplicated, or physically broken, leaking, dripping, making loud abnormal sounds....Or you have a healthy relationship with that dealer, you purchase 10+ vehicle from them every year.

It would be a bonus to get a working gauge from the start. Then the service department wouldn’t have to stumble on this.

I think the fuel gauge issue is not just in the Tundra but other toyotas as well.

Perhaps a bit of programming could fix it up but that is probably a low priority while they deal with the other issues that are in their face!

LOL. That’s what they all say, and after 3+ years now!! (Lying Dogs) I’m still waiting to hear if the ‘25 is still doing it.

You're absolutely correct. I spent about 15 minutes trying to explain the issue to them and they still entered it in incorrectly. So this is the game you have to play with Toyota. You have to take your vehicle in multiple times and continuously try to re-explain the same issue over and over until they get sick of you. So my plan is to once again fill the truck up to full and drive it until it happens again and make another appointment that is usually about three weeks out to get in again and do it all over. I think the one diagnostic tool that they could have used they didn't. If they would have just put gas in it and did a simple math calculation they would have seen that the actual amount of gas in the tank was off by a quarter or 8-ish gallons, but all they did was plug in the diagnostic tool.

Ongoing issue, been back 6x in 7K miles. Photos, videos, brought it in with the gauge reading incorrectly and nothing from the dealer. The dealer has gotten to the point where they’ve told me there’s nothing more they can do. Engaged Toyota corporate and after 3 months of going back forth with them they have to “research” it as they see it as likely a software issue but seeing how this issue dates back to the 22s and they won’t even acknowledge it affects through 24 models I don’t have much hope. My concern is safety, I’ve had it reset multiple times on the same tank so it can get to be off by a half tank or more. Not an issue for me personally since I’m the primary drive and I would know but if my wife or someone uses it they may be misled by the reading. Since the gauge resets the DTE as well I don’t even know if a low fuel light would trigger. A bit frustrating for a new truck and not even a little concern from the dealer or corporate about trying to help the customer.

Thanks for following up. I mentioned this issue to the Service Department when I made my appointment to get the second key fob, and the service rep didn't know anything about it. I told him to check Google, where it's very easy to find.

This is not very good customer service. I'm definitely going to follow up with an email and call to corporate. Even though it's not a "major" issue, it can be a dangerous one if someone who is not aware of this issue runs out of gas in the middle of nowhere and is stranded.

It happened to me again today, this time parked on an even surface and with 3/4 of a tank. This is the third time it happened in the past week.

Welp, so far I thought I got a unicorn with no issues on my 24 (July built). Not that this is a MASSIVE issue (to me) but I did indeed have this fuel gauge issue over the weekend. I was parked with the passenger side of the truck leaned down (slightly) from the driver's side on a small hill. I had 2/3 tank of gas when I parked it and...it's a miracle... tank was 100% full when I started up the next morning.

I'll keep tabs on my gas for now, and wait for there to be a known fix. Thank you to those who've been chasing Toyota on this, eventually it will get a TSB or at least dealers will have info to verify the concern vs. the back and forth many on here have had to do.

The thing is they already tried TSB or something similar on the 22’s. The software update didn’t work (obviously). That was almost 2 years ago now? I think they kind of gave up on this one. The engine issue probably took up that bandwidth.

My 2024 did it 3 times in one week. I have a sloped driveway and park nose up. Hasn’t done it since then though. That was probably 6 months ago. I must have to have a certain level of fuel in the tank to get mine to do it in my driveway.
