I grabbed a piece of metal, cut it to size and bent it into the shape i needed and then used a spacer for the bolt location and a longer bolt. Then just used some 3M tape to secure the scan gauge.

It works great and was really easy to make. I like that it stays further back than ones ive seen online, so it doesnt get in the way of anything. Sits just above the dash

Similar problem with Yamaha Waverunners and their dry sump oil system. Holds 4qts but you can only suck out 2.4qts. Dilution is the solution to pollution.

Years ago I had a similar comment. I told them the truth:
"In 2000 I went to the Chevy dealer to look into buying a new truck. I looked at the door sticker to confirm it was made in USA and contrary to what the lying salesman told me, it was made in a foreign country. So I went to the Toyota dealer and bought a truck that was made in USA."

Best way to visualize it is to get a glass of red kool aid or similar. Pour out 1/4 of it, then fill back to level with water and stir it in. The color should barely change, if at all. Repeat that about 5 times, and you’ll likely find the kool aid will still show about half (or more) the original color. You’ll likely still have moderately red water after 10 iterations.

I’m disappointed I can’t just buy a jug of trans fluid, pour it in a vat, pop off the trans lines to the radiator, stick the supply line in the new fluid, the return line in an empty bucket, then start up the truck and shift thru the gears to purge (replace) fluid. Life would be way easier. I’d personally love to service my own trans and roll fresh fluid in, although it’s probably not the best idea.

More miles this weekend. I’m approaching 200k faster than I thought I would. Went to Tyler state park in east Texas. Hit the weather jackpot. Highs about 75, lows about 50. Sunny all day with a full moon. We did have a burn ban, but the weather was so good it didn’t really matter. And yes I did strap it all down.IMG_1646.jpg

Can't you do a fluid swap with a pressure bleeder system?

My mom's LS430 has a sealed transmission as well, very similar to the A750E. You can do a fluid swap with a pressure bleeder kit. I'm hoping to accomplish this sometime next spring.

If it were low pressure, maybe? I’m of the mindset that you don’t want to use pressure in modern style electronic transmissions.

Thru the rad hose using the transmissions internal pump, is the safest way.

I think it's low pressure, like 5-10psi. Just to get the fluid up into the transmission from the bottle.

Clowns. Those are comments of absolute ignorance. I wouldn't waste time trying to convince them of anything. I had an F150-made in Mexico. My Tundra-made in Indiana, USA. Besides that, the reliability of 1st gen Tundras, really puts most domestic trucks of the same era to shame. Like, no contest. How many 2002 F150's are still on the road with over 300k miles. Good luck finding a single one. Toyota on the other hand, 300k miles is expected, at least with the 4.7 it is.

In regards to everything discussed above about trans fluid changes and whatnot...
The last time I did a drain and fill the fluid looked new after 4000 miles, so good I've kept it to use as power steering fluid in other vehicles. I've done a couple drain and fills but I try to do it often because I don't think it was serviced much or ever before I got it and it's came around really nice. For about $20 it doesn't hurt to do every or every other oil change.

In regards to the pressure drain and fill, on my 96 junky camry I put the hose that goes from the trans to the rad cooler into a jug and let it pump out about 4 quarts or so, right when it starts to pulsate a bit I stop then just refill through the dipstick hole. Maybe this isn't great for the pump but that trans has already been revived from the dead from a fluid flush once so and the drain plug is completely stripped out so how bad could it be. I see no reason you couldn't do that on a tundra but with the drain plug being easy to access (at least on 00-02 I guess) it's easier to just drain it there isn't it? I guess it's the filling part that sucks.

It was Saturday, but we installed a Truxedo Truxport (Model TRX-245101) on the 2002 AC. The clamp hardware was really soft aluminum. I was afraid to torque it to even the light 7 lb-ft in the installation guide. The bolt heads were dragging on the surface of the clamp and machining aluminum off of them. I decided to add stainless steel washers under the bolts to prevent the dragging and to ensure a good torque spec. Planning to call RealTruck today and see what they have to say. If I snap a bolt or strip threads, I'm hosed until they can send new hardware. Still, the cover looks great!

I dealt with a 446 and 441 for years. It turned out to be one of the vent solenoids near the fuel tank. My advice: don't throw parts at it. Except for maybe a gas cap. I spent probably $400 on various evap system components, turns out that it was a $30 vent solenoid.

Do you have a fuel smell? With a full tank, I could smell gas, but couldn't tell from where.

Naw, He's still driving great! He idles around 1,000 rip-ums, but I think that's more due to the venting codes than anything else. Drove him tonight.

Not sure how valuable this information is but I figured I'd share- I never had any idling issues, even with P0441 and 446 present. It always ran totally normally.

Weird, his lights have been flickering again. Might be electrical on the idle. Could also be the heater I've been running too. Just remembered that. Pewp.

Just a follow up on this repair.
I went for a 5 min cruise to see how the new shocks felt. I didn't have very high expectation just because she is sprung so hard/high. The roads I chose weren't very bumpy but I could tell it was just slightly more refined, but nothing drastically better. When it will maybe come into play is when we use her for the move/loaded, and depending on our location.... dirt roads, washboard bumps will be better tamed. And I plan on getting an ORV sticker and taking her out on state land a bit. You know, just to go look for some trouble. My Little lady says I'll be doing that alone . I have some ideas though... like I'm pretty sure she won't just jump out of a moving truck if I unexpectedly turn down a dirt two track. She's going to love it, she just doesn't know it yet
