I cut the base down so that the mounting holes would align properly with the metal window frame. So flipping it would misalign the mounting holes in the base. There's probably a bunch of different ways for a mounting system to achieve the space required. Three I can think of... 1) Straight mount for the camera, 2) Angled version of the base, 3)Base without mounting holes so that they can be custom located/drilled

I'm sure you've spent a ton more time contemplating this idea than I have so you tell me what the best course of action is. Bottom line is that the metal frame only gives me a 3/4" thickness for the base mounting and that mounting surface is perpendicular to the glass that the camera has to be aimed out.

    Looking forward to solving this.

    @GG.Offroad,
You've helped me discover a very elegant solution to an upcoming problem...
I'm getting a slide-in truck camper in February and wanted a backup camera but never considered using the DRV to accomplish this.
... much less consider the issue of losing all use of my regular rear view mirror.

My situation is a bit different from y'alls that are permanently moving your cameras to another location....
The camper isn't going to be on the truck full time, so I'm thinking I'll want to buy a second set of cameras, and then use your wiring to hook it up
    ...but with a twist....
I'll want to figure out a separate switch in the cab to control which video feed is actually displaying on the mirror when I turn it on.

I bet you could sell this as a "trailer kit" with an extra set of wires to run from the hitch area to the back of a tailer, camper, etc...

Want to adopt me as your next guinnea pig?

Edit: Found part number 810060C020 for the high mount lamp assembly, but can't tell what that all comes with.... wonder if it would be easier to buy one of those and create a way to mount that whole thing to the back of a camper/trailer/etc.

    Cheers!

    -Zero

I think I remember someone pointing out in another thread, that the cameras are somehow serially linked to the computer in the truck, so I don't know if you could technically have two sets.

I think you could probably link another set of extension cables to extend a set of cameras onto a trailer though if you were moving from camper shell to trailer and back.

I see Austin's post about this now.... sad day.
But after some consideration, I supposed I could semi-permanently move just my DRV camera to the camper and just lose that capability when I'm camperless.... I honestly don't use it often anyway and I'll still have the bed camera for cargo purposes.

Now I'll just need to figure out if I need any extra length on the cables....

@GG.Offroad how many feet of slack is left in the cables on your kit after it comes out of the bed assuming a 5.5' bed?

    Thanks!

Hey All! Just wanted to throw this out there. I have a 22 Tundra Crewmax 4wd SR5 TRD Sport without the digital rear view mirror or any of the cameras but the tailgate reverse camera. I also checked and I do not have the extra wires from the factory in the headliner to add the digital rearview mirror or cameras. But, I really want the digital rearview mirror as my back glass is tinted dark and I cannot see out of it at night without rolling down the back window. So, I purchased the digital rear view (87810-0C240) and a 3rd brake light assembly from salvage yards (each from a different truck) and found the wiring diagrams to know all the pinouts (really lucked out and got both for right at $200). The camera (867C0-0C010) and the rearview mirror have male and female connectors so they will plug directly into each other for testing. I hooked up 12v to the mirror and the camera came right on and displayed correctly and HomeLink buttons appear to work with no nags on the screen about park or anything like that. I will need to get an extension cable from @GG.Offroad to extend the harness across the headliner but no TechStream needed to make the camera work. There is a canbus connection on the mirror that ties it back into the truck. If I had to guess that might be why everyone else is having issues "marrying" the camera to the mirror? Since I have no need to tie it back into the canbus I will not install those wires. The only wires that i connected aside from plugging the camera into the rear view mirror were the No.1(Battery), No. 6(Ignition) wires and No. 2(Ground) on the 10 pin connector (S3, 90980-12368). Hope this helps someone!

I was incorrect about needing techstream to program a second camera on the DRV it is plug and play. The kit is now a 23' cable, but i do have some 15' i could send as-well. That combo wokrs fine on my truck but some have reported signal integrety issues when connecting two cables and going over 23-26' in length.

Welp sounds like impementing a signal switch will be more hassle than its worth for me anyway.

I'll need to go test out how much slack I would end up with and see if I need more or not.

Thought i would update this thread I made, I officailly have the external mounts for sale on the website. I am in desparate need of pics for this installed on a bed rack for the website.
@Kap1 youve been following patiently since the beginning, do you want a free kit finally? Dm me your address.
For anyone else who see this and wants to test it, heres a 20% off code: "EXTMNT"

In other exciting news for you slide-in folk and swingout bumper friends, I was able to create the tailgate backup camera cable! We had to buy two Toyota harnesses and have them prfessionally spliced with a waterproof joint SR connector. JAE wasnt willing to sell anyone the actual connectors individually... They'll be on the website in next week!

Thanks for all the love around here fam.

So can this work with 40 foot + length of cable so a camera on the rear of a trailer can be viewed in the rearview mirror yet?

Yes, @GG.Offroad should be able to make a special cable for you, if he replies...

Bed topper, Bed and Digital Rear View Mirror cameras relocated. 3rd Brake light and bed illumination.
I added an ARE V series topper to my 2025 Tundra 1794 edition. I used the www.ggoffroad.com Digital Rearview Camera Relocation Kit to move the cameras to the topper. I modified the included bracket with some spacers and a longer bolt to get the DRV camera at the correct angle. The 3rd Gen Tundra Brake Light Wiring Tap Cable was used to extend the brake light and add additional bed illumination to the topper. The kits worked very well. Great job ggoffroad.
