Good morning all. I got an email this morning from Toyota that the 2nd portion of the fuel line recall is out. Parts get ordered by VIN. Call your local dealerships and get them ordered.
I work at Toyota so i dont know if i get the email earlier or not but figured i would let you guys know.

Campaign Description: SAFETY RECALL 23TA09 (Remedy Notice ) - Certain Model Year 2022- 2023 Tundra and Tundra HV - Increased Risk of Fire

    Thank you! Ordered.
Of course the app says it’s still not available yet. I appreciate the insider heads up!

Wait, what? Did hell finally freeze over? I am turning on the Weather Channel to check. Jim Cantore says no, hell hasn't frozen over yet. That will happen when the engine recall is available.

My parts arrived at the dealership for the recall. Brought my truck in and later that afternoon was informed they couldn’t do it because my gas needed to be at 1/4 tank or lower. Will reschedule once I use more fuel.

Ideally the dealer want you to have less than a 1/4 tank of fuel but it is not required to do the recall. They just being lazy. Part of the recall procedure is to remove fuel if over 1/4 tank of fuel.
They just didn’t want to waste time removing fuel since they get paid flat rate and can do recall faster if they can skip a step.

You have no idea how many people cry that they just paid to fill up and we have to remove it and flat out refuse to lose money they just spent.

And you're right on the flat rate. Tech gets paid 2.1 hours to drop tank redo lines and reinstall so yeah the less gas the better and if they don't have some sort of a hydraulic lift it becomes a real pain in the ass. My guys use the lift designed for the Merai. Nice flatbed type that the tank fits perfectly under

Isn’t it possible to drain and store the fuel, do the recall, and then refill with the same gasoline? Doesn’t seem an impossible task.

Very possible but the tank that dealers have has seen all sorts of gas. Especially diesel and E85 from people putting the wrong stuff in the tanks and having to have them drained and they just get dumped when full. No cleaning them out. I wouldn't want dealer storing my gas.

    True.
But it’s also another step for them to screw up.

Isn't it possible to just book the recall when you have a 1/4 of a tank?

If it is like every other roll-out of a recall/fix, they have to order the parts and you can then book it when they call to tell you the parts are in.

I have an appointment for typical morning brake squeal next week. Called my dealer and they ordered the parts for the fuel line fix to do that as well on the same day. Likely only have to wait for the brake fix parts to come in for that one…

Had my fuel line recall done today. Brought it in with low fuel. It didn't take them too long.

4 hrs total for oil change, tire rotation, fuel line recall, and transmission update recall.

I went in to schedule my 20,000 miles service. The gal advised that the fuel line fix was available. They will take care of it.

FYI, I became aware of the available fix through this forum. I had not yet received notice from Toyota and my Toyota app still said a fix was pending. Since I was bringing my truck in, I just asked the dealer a couple days prior, they got the parts in quickly, I ran the fuel level down, and they knocked it out during the same trip.

So no need to wait for the Toyota notice or app status update.

I brought mine in for the 20k mile service yesterday. I was asked on the phone if I wanted to have this taken care of so I said yeah. When I got there the service manager said the parts weren’t in and I had to wait until I got my notice. Oh well. I waited this long. Maybe it’ll get done at my next service.

What is the 20K service? Is it just an oiled and filter change? Thanks. D

    Basically.

Got my fuel down below 1/4 tank and had my recall completed m Tuesday this week. I got curious about what exactly was done and found this informative (to me) video of what is included in the recall. Was happy to see the new fuel line included along with the new clips and routing path.

    Lots of stuff!
I see 2 of my 3 safety recalls are ready to implement now. The one where the truck wants to drive over me if I leave it in Neutral and get out of the truck! And the leaky fuel line permanent fix.

I was hoping to wait till the engine recall was ready too to save an extra trip! ;)

For now I will avoid parking the truck near the house in case it wants to catch of fire. I will also avoid standing in front of it while leaving it running in neutral without the e-brake on. Seems like a "Christine" moment when the truck runs you over!

I just get them done. Dealer is 5 miles away. They hire me a Lyft driver to take me to my house or work, and another one to pick it up the same day.
Only current recall or TSB update left is the engine!
(Once the Brake parts arrive and are installed)

168,000 to be made and they have switched suppliers due to the issue being present since the start of production.

I brought my truck into a local dealer to warranty work my passenger side strut as it was leaking.
While there they asked if I wanted to get the fuel line recall fix applied.... Why not!!

I pick up the truck later after the work was performed and all was well.
4 days later I pull out of a spot and hear an awful grinding and clacking noise.
I get out, look around the truck thinking I ran over something. Nope.
Pull forward a bit more and still there. Get out again and look around this time under the truck.
One of the metal straps is not holding the gas tank, its loose and rubbing against the drive shaft!
Pull in to a parking spot and look underneath. Sure enough, its not connected. Surprised I didnt loose the bolt!
Got a ratchet set and tightened it up. Checked the other bolds to the other straps... ALL LOOSE!
I said f this and went back to the dealership. They didnt know what to say as they majorly messed up.
Sad with the quality of tech work done at these dealerships.

Any they wonder why I dont get the free oil changes as these places.
