Has anyone installed the Alpine ILX-F511 on Tundras with a column shift? I have a 2016 Tundras SR5 with a column shift and wonder if the shifter would interfere with the screen

By looking at the pictures it looks like you wouldn't have any issues. The screen doesn't stick out that far.

Just installed ilx-509. Everything is great but I can't get my backup camera to show a picture. I followed Trail Grid Pro instructions and added a ground wire to the RCA cable. This helped my aftermarket front camera but the OEM camera triggers but it's a black screen. Any other ideas?

Anyone have problems with iPhone to HDMI connection with the ILX-F511? I can get a chrome cast to display on the screen, and I can get my iPhone to display on my TV through a USB-C to HDMI adapter, but when I plug the adapter into the alpine, I don’t get a signal.

Even with the screen in your rear view mirror, the truck should already have wiring at the back of the head unit for the backup camera system.

    Hello all

I am running into a issue with my Alpine. I just recently installed the unit after it sitting in my room for the last 2 years, installation went fine with the Maestro and the radio was working fine for the last month and half.

However in the last week, the radio doesn't turn on after it sits overnight, I am able to get it back on by moving the screen either up or down and it works as usual throughout the day. The radio comes on after it sitting for hours during my work but for some reason, it doesn't turn back on after sitting overnight.

I was thinking of the issue being a loose connection but it wouldn't explain the radio working after sitting for hours during my work and it able to power on on the drive home.

Not sure if if my Maestro or Alpine is the culprit or something else.

Let me know if you have run across this issue and if it has been resolved.

    Thanks.

If anyone ended up using the factory GPS connector and still has the alpine Antenna, I will gladly buy it from you. I have no idea what I did with mine and my OEM antenna is not working it seems.

You might have two built in - you can try switching them. I had one for Nav and another for Sat radio - only one worked with the Alpine.

Its a black and a white connector correct? The black im pretty sure is SAT, I have SXM popped into that one, and the white one is the OEM GPS i have connected. Unless youre thinking theres a third?

White is GPS. Double/triple check the connections. I can’t imagine the antenna getting fubar’d but I could see something coming loose in the 50lbs of excess wiring harness BS with how Alpine does their connections while trying to shove it all back up in the dash.

I plan to. I didn't want to introduce another variable until I get this resolved.

I did find that my radio was not fully seated in the metra kit. Apparently when I was moving the screen up or down, I was actually moving the radio out of the cage and possibly losing connection periodically. I really don't like the plastic cage as it's not the most sturdy. I was able to push it all the way in so I am seeing if that fixes the issue.

Airbox with K&N Filter, 2" lift on 33's, Alpine iLX-F309 head unit, Pull out bed tool boxes, brown with black trim, rims, etc, black leather interior, matching topper. Muffler delete (too loud..) 62k miles!!!
I have the Alpine ILX-309F and was having similar issues with the rear camera. Turns out its kind of a known issue and the fix was to add a ground wire to the RCA jack going in. I tested this and it worked perfectly so I solder tacked a ground wire on the RCA in (outside metal sleeve that goes over the radio RCA jack) and ran that directly to a screw that holds the radio into the metra frame for ground. Its a easy troubleshoot, just stick a ground wire in with the RCA jack (the plastic protector sleeve should hold it good enough to test) and strip the other side back and wrap it around a chassis ground on the radio or on the dash. Fire it up and verify its working, now make the "Fix permanent by soldering or affixing the ground wire to the RCA and chassis ground.

    Off Topic:
The Dasaita kit has metal brackets. I'm in the market as well, my metra plastic face plate has both plastic standoff/studs at the top broken off. While no kit offers a metal standoff/stud I think I will order this one with the metal brackets and take apart the faceplate to put in some proper metal standoffs bolted through the frame. Looking at my existing unit it looks like the silver overlay is plastic welded onto the black frame underneath so ill get that apart and put a stainless bolt and washer between them for added strength. I have a 10.4 mile rough dirt road home which is playing havoc with all kinds of things on the truck, especially this time of year its wash boarded real bad until they come grade it.

I also modded factory brackets to make mine not only fit much more securely, but also sit lower. The Dasaita mount propped the unit up higher than I was liking.

Side note - Since installing this HU, my bluetooth output is SUPER tinny and hard to hear. Has anyone else experienced this?

Mine is in the lower slot and was fine for me. But I did tweak the holes during my modification to lower it a tad too.
I do need to pull the unit and drop the screen one set of holes though

    As in voice calls?
I use CarPlay and have to have the phone volume turned all the way up to hear clearly. No idea how I sound to the other person (probably like shit)
For audio I only use Spotify/CarPlay. It sounds fine (audiophile I am not) but I do plan on eventually swapping the JBL factory amp (and probably speakers) with something else.

Aftermarket Apple CarPlay has been known to have an issue on some makes and models; much speculation as to why this is the case with no clear answer. Almost every one of the people I call have said that the sound is awful - low volume, tinny, background noise, etc. After searching online it seems to be pretty common. There was a thread where many tried to troubleshoot but for one reason or another it just wasn’t fixed on the 2.5 gen. Other gen’s had great success because of the efforts of a couple members, namely @IIonPilgrimg

Same with Android Auto. I never use it for music because it sounds so bad. I'll use it for Waze or Google maps, but listen to music on the XM tuner.

Off topic but is the automatic transmission gauge on the radio accurate? I have an 07 with the transmission cooler and from research, the normal operating temperature is around 190 to 220 F. On my radio gauge, I am seeing 240 to 258 F in the highway. I am not towing anything. The analog gauge appears to be in its normal range. Not sure if it's a concern or not?

On my 2014 I get about 195 in city driving in 105 temps yesterday. I've had it around 220 towing a travel trailer up a mountain.
