Reviews seem decent. Not sure I need it? Will it last?

What tape were you looking to try? Just the other day I was reading up on some 3M 4412N and read that some have had success using it for the same purpose. No idea how long it would last though. Probably replace it with every tire change? I have the KTM tubeless on my Super Adventure and was pondering what I might be able to use if/when their rubber gasket version becomes unreliable. They have a 4411N that's a little thinner, and less expensive.

4412 is what I bought. I did a bunch of “research” and some are getting years out of the tape if applied properly. I paid $90 CAD for 18yards, which is enough for many wheels. Incase its a fail, Sounds like a can of “fix a flat” is all that is needed for removal. Spray it in, let it sit a bit and then pull the tire. Tape turns gooey and comes off. I hope…

I like the sound of that! Except maybe the thought of cleaning up the fix-a-flat, but it still might be worth it.

Tape removal is my biggest concern but will cross that road when I get there. Not sure the benefits outweigh the costs for going tubeless but what I know for sure is that installing the tube is the worst part of tire changes.

I don’t think any dirt specific dirtbike has ever come with ABS. As for large enduro bikes, adventure bikes (both large and small), or touring bikes with ABS, then that all comes down to personal preference. I pretty much exclusively ride offroad on my ktm 990A, so i removed the entire ABS system from the bike.

Pretty quiet here… weather has been shite but we need the rain.

Received my Carpuride w702 with a cracked screen, new one on its way no questions asked. nice to see a company trying to do the right thing.

tubeless conversion with 3m 4412N tape is holding air for a month and 400km (fingers crossed) Did 2 wraps of tape and had the tires installed at a shop with a machine for fear of tearing the tape with tire irons.

Just picked up a Yamaha TW200. I need a vehicle that can take me deeper into the wilderness than the Tundra can go for hunting. Fun little bike to cruise around town and a lot of fun bumping up some steep dirt roads!

I can't leave anything alone...or stock, so it got some upgrades. LED turn signals, LED taillight, Diode Dynamics SS2's, LED Headlight, big foot pegs, Acerbis hand guards, skid plate and a rear rack. Should be ready to pack out some meat!

Not sure if this would be the right thread, but I do enjoy motorcycles and recently started dipping my toe into making videos, albeit at a very basic level. Please do feel free to point me to a more appropriate thread if one already exists. (I did try to search.)

Very nice! Man I wish that I liked the forward controls of a cruiser. Such an iconic look. That's a Suzuki, right?

    Yes, Suzuki Boulevard C90T BOSS.
    1500cc
I have a KLR650 also, so it will probably take a bit to get used to the different riding position.

It freaks my brain out to lean with my feet that far forward. I wound up getting rid of my first bike and thinking bikes just weren't for me because of it. The itch persisted and I finally tried the mid controls of an ADV bike and found that the freak out about leaning wasn't there. The cruiser was super comfy, but I hated any curve in the road on it.

You're gonna love the bigger twin on the highways! Let us know how it goes for you. :bikewheelie2:

    Picked the Boulevard up today.
I think it will be fun to have both.
Just riding the Blvd today for a little bit today and getting used to it, I got back on the KLR and that felt really weird.
I think I will enjoy both.
The Blvd is a huge bike, but on the photos the KLR looks bigger due to the seat height and larger wheels.

You'll definitely enjoy both. Two different tools for two different jobs. Both will work well for their intended purposes. Happy for you to have the space for two bikes!

Here's my Yamaha FJR1300...the Geriatric Rocket. I love this bike. Fast enough, comfortable, and I love the looks. Took these pics myself for a forum calendar a couple years ago. Some cosmetic changes since then, but basically still the same.

OK, so this came up in another thread and it was suggested I post here to illustrate the importance of helmets.

A little background, I've been riding since about 10. The bike previous to this one: BMW K1300S was a Harley VROD VRSCDX. I never wore a helmet on the Harley but when I moved into the BMW I geared up for every ride. Matter of fact there was a period of time where the bike was my only mode of transportation for about 4 years.

This happened several years back as I was coming home from a ride. I actually happened to pass a friend of mine in their car and decided to give the throttle a nice rip. I dropped a gear and sped off (no traffic in sight).

I know for a fact how fast I was going because I was tucked in: 163mph. Just as I looked at my speedo and rolled off, I felt a little thud. Initially I couldn't figure out what it was then I noticed a light on my cluster informing me of a LAMP malfunction. I stood over the bike enough to see the headlamp assembly and realized it was caved in. I pulled off at the next exit to inspect the damage.

    Here is what I saw:

My buddy who I had passed saw me pull off and exited too. He said he just what looked like a puff of smoke, perhaps a backfire. What he saw was a bird getting obliterated by my bike.

Long story short, it was $800 to replace the headlamp assembly after hitting the bird (Dove I believe). There was no other damage to the bike. Crazy to think what that could've done to my helmet.

Anyway, I haven't ridden in a while. Actually, sold the bike a few years back due to an issue with my hand going numb. I had an incident with a potato gun that put 24 screw/pins/plates in my hand. Then I had a freak fall in a flag football league that put 2 more temporary pins on my hand. Since then, when I would ride for a distance, my hand would go numb. One day coming home from work it went numb so I reached over with my left hand and grabbed the throttle at 80mph while I shook out my right hand. At that point I said to myself this isn't going to end well and sold the bike a few months later.

There are 2 types of bikers: Those who have crashed and those who are going to. My only falls have been in the dirt so I figured I should probably quit while I was ahead.

Here are some x-ray pics of my hand and the potato gun I made that caused it:

I really loved that bike and logged almost 100k mi on it...

I totaled my bike last year. Thankfully we went out of it only with some scratches, broken helmets, torn riding gear.
I decided He gave me a clue and not to tempt myself I surrendered the motorcycle license.

    Hello Motorcycle community
I have a question for all of you and so here it is.

I plan to buy my first bike next year for my birthday. Never road a bike in my life and I will take the classes that are offered for free or pay for them. If I’m not mistaken they are free on base but I’ll check into it.

I know I want a liter bike and I know it has a break in period which I think is good thing. my intention is to track the bike a learn from the track. I have been told that riding on the street is different. My wife feels more comfortable with me on a track as well.

My question for you guys is given the information how long can I expect to be riding on the track before I’m comfortable riding at higher speeds on the track or even leaning on the bike in corners ?

There are two training courses one with a loaner bike and the other with your bike and both are on a military base

You've got everything backwards. You DO NOT want to start on a liter bike and DO NOT want to ride on a track with 0 experience.

Absolutely take the MSF course to learn and I'd recommend a ninja 400 or something like that to start, possibly a ninja 650. Keep it under 65hp. A liter bike makes around 200hp. My Aprilia 660 makes 100hp and would be too much for a beginner. I've been riding 4 years and I'm barely ready for about 160hp.

Don't forget your gear. Helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, pants. The first 3 are mandatory, the others can come a little later.

I did the same on my 990. I have no use for ABS whatsoever. I gutted it all and did a high fender conversion. Much better

Today is actually the 9 year anniversary of my worst motorcycle accident. I hit a deer on my dirtbike riding solo in the absolute middle of nowhere. No cell reception. I had to self recover which was not fun at all. I had every piece of gear on that you could think of except for my knee pads, because this was supposed to be a quick end of the weekend ride. Big mistake. I hit the deer and supermanned over the bars ended up with a spiral fracture in my fibula and complete ankle ligament tear. My kneecaps were ground down to the bone and I still have no feeling in them. I had scabs for almost a year they were so big and deep. My Alpinestar Tech 7s are the only reason I still have a foot and lower leg on my left side. The Dr told me my foot rotated so hard towards the outside that things just started breaking. I spent the next 5 months on crutches. And then tons of PT to relearn how to walk.

Fun thing about the motorcycles; it's way more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. A liter bike is way too much for a beginner. Yeah, yeah, everyone has a buddy/uncle/sister's boyfriend's cousin that started on one and "they were fine." That's the exception, not the rule.

If you want to get to track riding and enjoying it, I'd say start on something no bigger than a 500. First, it'll keep you more within a newbie skill set. Second, it's going to be lighter weight so easier to pick up when you drop it, and hopefully less severe of an injury if you drop it on your leg.

ANY bike is fun on a track. Get something affordable with easy maintenance to keep initial costs down so you can afford better gear.

Legitimately, I think the Honda CB500 series of bikes are great for beginners. If you want a crotch rocket style - CBR500R (On the right in the pic), if you want naked - CB500F (middle of the pic), and if you want an ADV style bike - CB500X (left in the pic). All have the same engine that has been around forever, it is reliable, gets great fuel economy, and has plenty of power for a new rider. Bonus, they hold value fairly well, so you can get one used for a discount, cut your teeth on it, and if you want to upgrade in a year or two you aren't out much.

I had a CB500X (note: the replaced the CB500X with the NX500 but it's just a new look) and that bike is as fast off the line as my 2017 WRX. It's not slow, it's just slow compared to bikes capable of idiot speed. You don't need the speed as a new rider.

Ouch. You got pics? Use the spoiler feature if you do. Don't want anyone to freak out.
