Mine will be here Friday. Are you going to try installing the TRD accelerator with the Stillen? @TacomaTRD4x402 is interested in the fitment as he mentioned that it might have to be trimmed to fit.

I wasn't sure where I had seen the comment about the accelerator with this CAI. It looks like it was in the comments section of the YT video from Nitro...

    Screenshot_20240827_070036_YouTube.jpg

So I may have to give this a shot someday. Don't know if it's a huge game changer but ehh, I wanna put my accelerator to good use.

    I thought about this too.

I was thinking that the intake tube through the fender well might be sticking out slightly further.

@reywcms Did you do anything to the intake tube for the fender well?

Looks like you used some automotive adhesive with a piece cut off of your Traeger. All jokes aside, I mean, we could just run the Stillen without the intake accelerator right?

That's what I ended up doing after attempting trying to install the CAI with the accelerator. First I didn't really like the idea of cutting my new CAI up but I may end up having to do it to get it to fit. Probably going to be a weekend project.

That's genius. I remember seeing an image of your CAI on here somewhere. So you have that panel with air vents to push air into your box. Is that panel removable?

I did entertain the idea of removing the fender only to gain access from the other side of the engine bay to be able to install the accelerator that way but I think that might be too much work. Cutting the CAI might be a better idea. Would love to see what you guys end up doing.

Well I took my Stillen off just to inspect the fender air inlet where the accelerator would mount on the Stillen box and it looks like Stillen makes theirs long enough to eliminate the entire piece that clips onto the stock box.
So I can see now why there would be a need to cut the Stillen air inlet down enough to fit the accelerator.

@pvn.beluga have you already opened your kit up?

Do you have the nipple on your box that's supposed to be here...
    20240827_201613.jpg

It's a bummer that corner piece is hollow otherwise I'd cut that whole corner piece off to allow me to cut the inlet further down.

Not yet actually, I’ll be opening it up this weekend. But I did see that where they’ve eliminated that nipple to add in the 3rd bushing from the OEM.

In @2020Platinum video, it shows that his model does have that additional nipple.

Yeah that's one step I skipped when I did my install since it wasn't there. Too bad they left that corner piece there.

    With the TRD accelerator?

Yeah mine installed just fine but I'm trying to still be able to utilize my TRD accelerator piece with the Stillen

Finally got around to modifying my Stillen box to allow for using my TRD accelerator with it. Don't really know if there's a huge gain from it but I didn't want it to go to waste. So now I know that it is possible :bananadance:

How much did you cut off? Used a sawzall? Dremel? Oscillating multi tool?

I cut about 3/4 inch off the box and 1 inch off the throttle body coupling.
Yeah I used a sawzall on the box and sanded it down just to get a smooth surface.
Here's an idea of what I cut...

I would think that it would have some gain. Start at the 2:30 mark where he shows the difference in the 2 ducts.

    Thanks!
I did take it out for a little spin around town last night and I must say going from stock to this setup a second time around, I do notice the difference in acceleration.

Nice....so now I need to get the Accelerator too? Did you have to buy the extra clamp? For the coupler, you shortened the one that goes to the throttle body? Im assuming it was too long one the box was bolted in? Do you run a throttle controller at all?

Lol mods are never ending on these trucks

It's worth giving it a try if you don't mind cutting up your brand new stuff.
I bought the large hose clamp from Lowe's just to get it snug on there. May not be required since it fits right over the fender inlet tube but I wanted a nice tight seal. The coupling comes with the kit. That you may not necessarily need to cut but I did just to make getting that intake tube onto the throttle body easier.

I don't run a throttle controller yet but I've seen your thread about the pedal monster and that's probably going to have to be on my list now :(

    Alot of them
It's on sale for $19 so I'll see of my local dealer has one. It sounds like it's worth a shot if you noticed a difference after putting it on yours yesterday. If you noticed a definite improvement after installing the intake and the accelerator, just wait until you put a Pedal Monster on it.
