Meanwhile, I've sold out and cut over to Apple Maps and actually don't hate it... :anonymous:

Sir, it's all about Edging on PCs nowadays.

Also, I can't remember if I told you how awesome Waze and Google Maps both did leaving @STravis's shop back in February. They both tried to fucking kill me.

Not sure if it's been mentioned before, but during our last road trip, I could not figure out how to have maps on one side of the screen and a music source on the other in Android Auto. I had to keep switching back and forth with maps and music. Super annoying.

Anyone have issues with the factory rear cam showing black screen while in reverse, on hot days?
No issues in the morning, but after sitting in the sun all day while at work and then leaving at the end of the day, put in reverse, camera engaged and just a black screen. The cab is plenty hot when this is experienced. Temps here have been high 90°s - 100° :notsure:

I have had this happen a couple times but never seen it since. I am not aware of a thermistor wired in the camera wire but if it is that should be inside the cab and not outside if you live in high temp areas… which is becoming everywhere now

Strange for sure. Blank / black camera screen comes up in reverse, along with the superimposed message "Never depend solely on the camera". Even while not in reverse, I can toggle between my front and rear cams with the same result for the rear. Again, only happens when the inside of the cab has been heated from sitting in the sun all day.

I have the same issue intermittently, but heat isn’t a factor in the equation for me.
Still need to find the time to pull things out and double check all the connections

Are chin straps where the industry is headed? I’ve seen a lot of that around campus on different builds. We always joked about it being nice to have for what we were doing.
Also what kind of shirts don’t go over your shoulders? Or you just mean you can’t show off your pasty guns due to liability of blinding people?

Can’t be a tank top or sleeveless t-shirt. Not that I wear that stuff much anyway… my farmer tan would scare bigfoot.

The Type 2 hard hats look like rock climbing helmets. Pretty much every sizable general contractor has switched to them, and most larger trade subs (like us) even if not required by the GC. They offer protection from side impacts that you don’t get from standard hard hats. But they are hotter and heavier due to the more complex structure inside of them. And ours are not vented because the vented ones do not offer the same level of electrical protection (we are also an electrical contractor)

Figuring this is a good place to post. I jumped on the bandwagon last year and got the stellar deal on the f511. Aside from the new head unit everything else is the factory amplified jbl system.

I see trail grid pro now has an alpine 10 speaker replacement package that is plug and play with all necessary pigtails and speaker adapters for $658. https://trailgridpro.com/products/alpine-10-speaker-plug-play-bundle-2014-2021-tundra

    I
looked on crutchfield and can get these same speakers for about $200 less, but I know having the ready made harnesses and being plug and play is worth something, just not maybe that much….anyways, would this be a nice upgrade and next step in audio sound and quality or are there better options for the price? I do like plug and play so not too concerned with the price hike for it. I was also looking at their alpine bypass plug and play 5 channel amplifier package. https://trailgridpro.com/products/alpine-jbl-bypass-plug-play-5-channel-amplifier-kit-14-21-tundra. Would it be good to pair both of these up together and would they complement each other well. If so, then I’d essentially have a whole new set up aside from the stock subwoofer.

All thoughts and comments are welcome.

I can't really help you with your question, but I just pulled the trigger on the Alpine F511 head bundle from Trail grid as well as the kicker bypass amp kit this past week. I will still have the stock JBL speakers but plan to probably replace those with the same alpine bundle you are asking about.

As for the cost from Trailgrid, keep in mind they also have custom speaker adapter rings with the kit. I struggled with the extra cost of the Kicker amp from them but at the end of the day the harnesses and the convenience were worth something to me.

Nice, curious to hear your thoughts once everything is installed. I sent trail grid pro a message with some questions for them, but I’m sure it will take a few days for a reply with the holiday weekend.

I need HELP!! Anyone know what I did wrong? I got the Black, Blue, Green, Yellow wire Bypass and installed it per the instructions, if it matters it's a redwood Bypass-003. It worked for the first two drives and I could access everything, but now it doesn't even when I push down the emergency brake twice, so I'm completely locked out.
I took the bypass wires and connected them to the Alpine main plug in wires:
I soldered the Black to Black, Blue to the Blue/white, yellow to the yellow/blue and left the green out as my Alpine Halo ILX-F511 didn't have a yellow/black wire, so we didn't connect it to anything.

I installed this Alpine HU 6 months ago, of all the modifications to my truck this has been the best by far. Great functionality, works seamlessly and looks nice.
