2017 Tundra hood bulge

Hello everyone. My 2017 Tundra chrome hood bulge ripped off at 70mph on the highway yesterday. I need a replacement and trying to decide how much I want to sink into truck. I could go with chrome and make it simple, or I could go with quicksand hood bulge and get a TRD Pro grille. What do you guys think and do you have part numbers? If I go with matching truck color and TRD pro grille, I will still sadly have chrome bumper covers. Thoughts?

Use them to search other part distributors to find the best deals. A local junk yard might be a cheap way to get a chrome one in any shape while you wait for a sale from Toyota. I've been using Fred Anderson Toyota lately and their customer service has been responsive and they have had good prices. But I really like the color matched front with the older pro grille (2013 to 2017).

For the bumper ends. I would just buy some bedliner in a can and use that. I did plastidip first since I wasn't sure if I was going to change my mind but the bedliner could be used with an etching primer as well. I used the Rustoleum Turbo can bedliner. 2 cans would get your front and rear end caps with 2-3 layers with easy. I'm going on 2 years and see no chipping or any other issues.

Correct, use the part numbers from that thread and search elsewhere. That dealership has gone thru many changes and most the links don't work, but all the other info is good.

You can also Google the part number and find other dealerships selling it and shop for the best price.

 

Which pro grille are you wanting? The newer style with the garnish? If you go with the older style, you will have to relocate your TSS sensor.

 

I don’t believe I have a sensor in my truck.

Do you think it would look ridiculous if I got just the beige hood bulge for now? I’m not feeling spendy enough to get the grill and the hood bulge quite yet.

 

Nope. Especially with still having the chrome bumper ends, the chrome surround would fit in.

 

It will look better than the open hole. The reason that it came off was most likely due to the clips popping out. Toyota went to a different clip around 2018 or 2019 if I recall correctly. The bulge will come with new clips. A few of the guys here have changed their older clips to some from Amazon that they have said work well. @RobertD might be one of the members that has the link.

 

My hood bulge basically broke off! The clips certainly may have started its downhill trend but the plastic ultimately failed on the thing. I’d be totally down for getting the different updated clips if someone has the link. For now I think I will order the beige hood bulge and when I recover add in the grill. Still open to ideas though.

 

That’s weird. I set up an account and it says that it can’t ship to me! I will call the dealer and see what they say.

 

I just called the parts place and they said they cannot ship it! I am not happy because that was the exact part I needed at a great price. Sucks.

 

Weird, I have ordered as guest and had no issues. I've ordered 3 times from them.

Yea it sucks because the first link is $100 more! Crazy. Also $51 for shipping as opposed to free shipping.

Weird... I'm in Texas so not that close. Their prices are much better than my local dealerships and none price match outside their region.

All I can suggest is to keep shopping around.

 

thank you! Yes the price was fantastic at $191! Maybe that’s why they don’t want to ship because sounds like they’d be losing money. I am in central NY. They would not even consider me paying the shipping. Oh well. Closest I can find with shipping is around $300.

Thank you so much! I just ordered the hood bulge and TRD pro grill for $368 total! Killer deal! Free shipping too! Hope this works out because that is an awesome price. Once I get them installed all I have to do is figure out the easiest way to get the matching bumper corners LOL. Do they sell those in beige?
