2022 Tundra Sunroof Rattle - anyone had this issue? Any thoughts about a fix?

Clunky, springy noise when going over bumps (particularly with one wheel). Been like this since I bought the truck last year. Worse when temperatures are mild.

Coming from the sunroof. Goes away completely if I start to crack the sunroof even slightly (sunroof doesn't even have to come back to stop the noise, just up a tad).

I've cleaned and greased seals and tried shims in various places to no effect. Driving me crazy.

I have the same thing on my truck. Haven’t taken it in yet. I had a similar issue with a pano roof on a Mercedes and took it in repeatedly to fix. Would be fine for a while then go back to making noise. Wonder if it’s something inherent to pano roofs.

Forgot to add - I took it to the dealer the other day and they wanted $850 to drop the headliner and diagnose after a tech ride along couldn't pinpoint the issue. (I bought used).

Does it happen with the shade closed as well?

@GilFavor yep, same issue with shade closed. But if I *barely* crack the sunroof, goes away completely.

@mikeaesq does your sound go away when you crack the sunroof too? Tech thought it may be loose or improperly torqued sunroof assembly bolts, but wasn't sure. Didn't make sense to me since it goes away so easily.

I wonder if it could be something with the pop-up screen bar that comes up when the sunroof opens. It's the only thing up there that is already kind of "springy".

I’ll check it out tomorrow morning to see if that get rid of it. I feel like it’s flex in the body that causes the noise since it happens most often when the truck is going over a bump unevenly - it’s the worst for me when pulling out of my driveway at an angle.

But that’s my half baked theory.

I think you're correct that flex contributes to it. I hear it more pronounced when hitting a bump with one rear tire, and hear the noise on the opposite side. Also hear a singular tapping sound in certain instances of flex.

I can fit my finger through the corner of the sunroof seals when closed and push down on the windscreen, then let it pop back up. Makes the tapping sound I mention above, but not really the springy rattle noise. Weird.

We have a few threads regarding this. Adding foam in some spots gets rid of the rattle. Do a search

Thanks @eddiefromcali. I've read every sunroof rattle post I could find over the past year on this forum, Reddit, YouTube, and elsewhere, but have never seen one that I felt spoke to this particular rattle. I've also tried foam in every place except the right one, it seems. Maybe I'm missing something.

Also found some old posts of yours that I had replied to as well. Unfortunately, none of those fixes have worked for me. (https://www.tundras.com/threads/2022-sunroof-rattles.111020/#post-3270911)
