Bed Extender question for 1st Gen 2001 Tundra

if I drill new holes and cut the bracket it will raise the height and put the bracket flush to the side of the bed.

 

can you post a picture of the brackets?

 

Didn't want to start a new thread - but just wanted to say thanks for all the valuable info here. I picked up a bed extender today and unfortunately it did not come with mounting hardware...but i picked up the extender for $80 CAD which probably $20 USD hahaha.

Looking for the brackets and this was a life saver. I'll order PT329-34101 tomorrow.

I just got an 01 Tundra and what looks like this same exact OEM extender... Extends too much on the gate.

Anyway looking for the correct bracket. Few questions:
1) Was it just the one OEM part number (PT329-34101) and the extender itself to complete the setup?
2) Is there an alternative part number(s) for this by the manufacturer (in this case I believe it's AMP Research who makes the Toyota OEM)
3) do you or anyone have an actual photo of the part? I can't find a photo anywhere.
4) Is there an alternative OEM part number?
5) what's the best place to order this without paying some ridiculously overpriced shipping fee?

 

I just went thru the same situation. I have a 2006 Tundra Double Cab. I went to the dealership where I bought my Tundra and ordered new brackets for, I think it was $63.00. They are brackets for the AMP Research bed extender, and although I suspect they were made by AMP for the Tundra, I can't prove it. I have attached pictures of the parts, Part Numbers, and Bar Code. Hopefully this will get you what you need, or provide someone else what they need as they go thru the same process.

 

PT329-34040-BR is the DC part number. Take out the hypens if you can't find @ Toyota's Parts site - the parts are not spendy.
PT329-34101 is the AC and RC part number.

Note: The DC kit is only listed as working for '04-'06 models. I don't see one for '00-'03.

If you order through https://parts.toyota.com you should be able to get it cheaper. If I order there for pickup from my local dealership, it's only $43, not the full MSRP that you pay buying it at the parts counter.

 

The funny thing is I went to a couple other dealerships when I was living away from home, and they said they couldn't find the part. I get back home and they knew exactly what it was. I have been looking for the part since one of mine broke in 2017. I did go to the Toyota website but since they didn't have a picture of that specifically, I didn't want to chance it. My local dealership said they could order it and if it wasn't what I wanted they wouldn't charge me. It cost me an extra $20, which I wish I could have hung on to, but overall I am satisfied. Thank You for the info!

 

These bed extenders are OEM and NON-OEM in this whole thread?

If I could find a cheap bed extender, I'd be willing with try those mounting brackets on crackie. (2000) I don't see why they wouldn't fit, or why Toyota would claim they wouldn't fit. @shifty`

 

Hmm I ended up buying a set of brackets I drilled directly into the bed. Works great. Will try to get a picture to show later....

Sadly a week later the truck wouldn't start anymore. Finally getting around to dealing with it. Seems like it's a camshaft sensor issue.

 

Those are what I bought for my 2006 DC.
I now have them on my 2018, BUT they're not quite the right fit. So I'll be lookin for the right ones now. Was going to cut and drill them, but doesn't seem like there's enough metal.

 

So I've tried sourcing PT329-34040-BR but even though they show as in stock on several toyota parts sites, and toyotapartsdeal.com. I soon after received cancellations stating they're discontinued. Anyone know of a direct replacement?

That is not the entire toyota part, there's a steel bracket that attaches under the tie down hooks. Check pics earlier in thread. I have my set from my 06 DC Currently on my 2018, they are usable, but I'm going to try and get the right ones.

 

That appears to be a different part number and it's not clear to me that it fits 1st Gen

 

I think that part fits most tacomas and tundras, you just have your drill into the bed. The brackets that allow you to attach under the tie downs are model specific.

 

Ahh I see now, sorry I had to re-read the thread a few times lol. Got it. So the bracket this part mounts to is what I'm now after

 

Yup..This is them mounted on my 2018 CM. As you can see not a perfect fit. The facets sit too low, and are not flush to the side of the bed. Once I find the correct ones, I'll sell these. I was going to modify them, but there's not enough metal to drill new holes
