What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

It's similar with my 5AT also.

 

Most transmission are that way. The cold fluid makes the shifts rough. Most are programmed to delay cold shifts into fluid warms up. Even my 2019 does that.

 

the a340 has all gears speed regulated regardless of lockup.

squirt to the shift, then coast. OD off 3rd locks in 45-50. Depending on load. Get up to 50-55, turn on OD and let it lockup @50ish and coast. Helps to preemptively turn off OD to climb a hill slower because of traffic, as long as youre smooth, you're not burning extra fuel between 2-3krpm.

 

My 4Runner had Pirelli Scorpions on it when I bought it. I hated those things, not real good in the rain, worse in the snow, and like you I replaced them with a set of Cooper's. You're going to like them. Never understood why the Scorpions were so bad with that tread pattern.

 

Interested to see if those rough country coils work with the Bilsteins.

Not sure if you were just raising the circlip or not, but next time I recommend the “no spring compressor” method. Probably takes a bit longer, but way safer.

@VR6T I think my old coils are marked to be oem TRD's. pink yellow/yellow yellow. You are welcome to them for the cost of shipping.

Well that only took all day ..... Luis came over thank God, and helped me figure it out. Pro tip of you have rough county springs and are going to put Bilstein 5100s on, just throw the springs out with the old shock body's and get factory springs

My truck stickered for $32k new in 2000 dollars.

Mine idles at right about 1K RPM, I drop it into reverse/drive, it drops to about 750, put it back in park, she goes back to 1K.

 

Mine definitely drops idle under load, then returns after return to P.

 

Pretty big bump back then, wasn't it? Limited at 125% of SR5.

Or, perhaps more to the point, the RC SR5 was a pretty dang good value, tons of truck for a reasonable price.

 

Mine was the loaded version. Limited AC 4x4 V8 leather etc. didn’t even come with keyless entry though

 

Many of us would jump for a v8, leather, limited 4x4 of any model at 32k today. Maybe even cartwheels.
