I have this odd issue. 3 months after replacing the clock spring, I started having intermittent issues of my Tundra not starting. Is it related? I’m not sure. At first I thought it might be the key. I replaced the lock cylinder but same problem. I replaced the ignition switch. Everything worked fine a few times. Maybe the switch went bad already? I can jump across the starter relay and it pops right off. Another odd symptom now is the steering wheel won’t lock. Looking for suggestions.

    Thanks.

What brand of clock spring did you buy and where did you buy it from? Same question for the switch.

Does the vehicle have an aftermarket alarm, or have you ever checked if there is evidence an aftermarket alarm was installed? i.e. T-taps and splices anywhere up under the dash or under the drivers side kick panel?

Does your windshield have any cracks currently, or has it been replaced within the last year or two, either the windshield or its trim pieces?

The clock spring should be up river from the ignition. I highly doubt it is your issue, and doubt the lock cylinder was either. I can tell you it typically is not the starter at fault, but there are other things like the neutral position switch that play a role in startup. The FSM should walk you thru that stuff, in the diagnostics section, IIRC.

It was an off brand clock spring. The ignition switch came from Napa. There's no after market alarm. No cracks in windshield and it hasn't been replaced. Where can I get the FSM?

Update - I pulled out the lock cylinder and put it back in. Truck now starts without issue but I can't get it to shift our of park. I noticed the steering wheel isn't always locking but I can turn it enough for it to lock, but then the key turns hard. The truck starts right up with the steering wheel locked or not. Only issue now is that I can't get the shift lever to move at all. I haven't moved the truck in nearly 6 months and it's sitting on a bit of a hill on the driveway. Do you think maybe I should try rocking it to see if it's just stuck or is it something with the lock cylinder that could cause this?

Check that the little plunger under the steering wheel releases when you push on the brake pedal. It can get corroded and stuck preventing you from shifting out of park. A small dab of grease and a few pushes with a flat blade screw driver can loosen it if stuck.
