"Still having failures of '24 models on Facebook." This doesn't mean that bearings are the source of the failures. It could very well be machining debris from blocks machined in 22-23 being installed in 24 models. Production lines are often set up to make large quantities of one item in a large batch, then have to shut down to retool for another batch of another part.

"Hybrid failures are not an issue" Reading up on this, this is the way the NHTSA rules seem to be written. Keep in mind there are two types of auto recalls: voluntary ones by the vehicle manufacturer and ones required by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. No doubt Toyota's attorneys advised them to prioritize NHTSA safety recall first. However, Toyota has not stated that they won't eventually do a voluntary recall on hybrids too.

Show us your style and wealth, and buy a 20-30 years old Volvo! Only select people can afford driving one. You'll beat Euro right on spot.

Remember times only a few years ago when you buy a Tundra or Sequoia and it lasts until you die, and your heir dies, and his heir dies?

ok my bad it seems like the bearings were grenading so in effect there is machining debris grenading them

That is just one of the major parts that can fail if metal shavings are circulating through the oil. You might have cylinder heads, cam gears or god knows what else fail.

Saw it at the dealer in Pullyallup via Facebook. Toyota of Tacoma had a couple for about $500 more also advertised on FB. The Pullyallup trucks were $2500 off sticker per the ad . Don't recall how they were spec'd and don't think they had the factory sticker posted. I've seen lots of trd offroads in WA with stickers in the $45-47k range.

Don't think that means much Considering there are several 24 model trucks with build dates past that supposed change in design. Or the suspected change in manufacture process that have spun bearings.

Is it time to trade the Defender in on another Tundra? :)

Order one without the factory debris option! They are rare but I am sure you can find one.

Really long and not a lot of new information but he does crack me up talking about all the raging people that don't own a Tundra and never will.
He didn't really talk through what Toyota intends to do for the aggrieved non-owners.

No new information at all, most/all of that has been said when first engines started to fail.

Looks like about 26 failures reported to the forum since 11/7/2023. 100,000's of units. Millions of miles per day.

From https://www.toyota-club.net/files/faq/19-09-10_faq_df_v6_eng.htm What does it mean "simplified"? No control valve and nozzles always spray oil on pistons? Or there's a control valve, but ECM does not do cold vs hot program?

So I wonder what happens to the oil pressure at the mains when at low engine revs (and limited oil pump output) there's a load surge and 12 nozzles start to consume oil? The pressure starts to drop at the nozzles, propagates back to the oil pump, where mechanical pressure relief valve would has to adjust to the loss of pressure. Can it be that during this short period of time the main bearings receive less lubrication, oil film thickness reduces to below what is needed for bearings survival? Coupled with potential debris embedded into the bearings, which now can be picked up by the crankshaft once the crankshaft moves closer to the bearings in the absence of sufficient oil?

Nozzles in the turbo engine I took apart are pretty significant oil consumers, looking at their size and proximity to the oil pump. They are not regulated, so there's no abrupt oil pressure changes in their vicinity. But in V6TT there could be such a drop. Unless the control valve has been eliminated.

    1. Please point to where the information he shared on recent part number changes has been discussed elsewhere.

    2. A great deal of new information has come to light including the recall statements by Toyota long after the first engines started to fail.

Do we have links to 2024 Tundras with build dates after January 2024 that have failed engines due to the main bearings?
