Im waiting for the 17" impact forged sans beadlocks which havent been made yet. Almost had blanks custom drilled but the cost increase was too much. I've been toying with the idea of ceramic coating the wheels when i get them. Seems likely that the luster will remain for 6 or so months.

Gotcha. Didn't mention forged, so I thought you meant the Impact OL. The forged impacts are dope though.

The machined finished on mine are already stained from one day in the rain. Is what it is. A nice set of wheels that have some wear and tear give it some character and I don't mind.

Thanks, man! Glad you dig it. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to call it a prerunner, but it's the direction I'm heading. If I am able to make it eat some whoops without bucking, I'll consider that an accomplishment.

Removed the tonneau to get the chase rack organized. Just need to wire up the lights and fill up the Powertank.

Eh, what the hell. I still have my old S8 sitting on the workbench. If only I could put that behind the bumper too (I could, but not gonna). LOL

Looking good, did you upgrade front springs to 700s to working with the added weight of the bumper or did you stay with the stock 650?

No change in spring rate. The bumper isn’t as heavy as most plate style bumpers. I had 700# springs before on my FJ and hated them. Went down to 600 IIRC when I went LT and life was good.

Finally a good comms system after using two-way walkies for years and getting pissed off with the lack of range and clarity. Had to adapt the 2nd gen tundra kit to work on the 3rd gen but got it done.

Looks great. Any particular reason you mounted the antenna lower than the cab roof?

Also curious about your radio mount to the side of the console. Did you buy their seat bolt mount and have to mod it?

Mounting on top of the cab would be ideal but without a built mount, the alternative is a magnetic base and running the cables out the window, which I don’t want to do. I’m waiting for a third brake light mount. The point 5 antenna works great for its size and doesn’t add additional height.

I drilled a couple holes into the plastic console trim and added a plate for reinforcement. It’s sturdy and ain’t falling off. The included seat bracket doesn’t work for the 3rd gen but you can easily make it work. I didn’t pay enough attention when mocking up the seat mount bracket but it’s possible that it would place the box in the way of the glove box. Mounting it to the console as I did give you a couple mm clearance to open it.

Agreed! I’ve been wanting to get on the dunes to see how it does as is, but I know it’s going to rub hard on the fender and bumper while turning with any amount of speed. It’s why I’ve been holding off. I need to find someone to install my glass fenders and bedsides and I’ll pretty much be good to go!

This is another Epic build for the forum. First 3rd gen I've seen get this fine makeover here. :burnrubber:

There has been so much negativity here lately with the bearing issue. It's enlightening to see a member here looking past that and tricking out a 3rd Gen and moving forward! Shit happens. Just f+++ing do it! I know @Bob, the Mods here of which I know for the most part, me, and other long time members here appreciate what you are doing. Hands down!
    Following you now!

I roll my eyes every time I see a new thread, article, or YT video posted about it. Sure, it would absolutely suck for it to happen, but I'm not letting the thought of it stop me from enjoying my truck. I get asked about it a lot and I honestly don't have answers for them because I'm not reading any articles or threads about it.

Glad to hear there's people out there who appreciate mine! Motivates me more to go broke!

I’m with @Black Wolf, it’s killer to see someone exploring what this new generation of truck can do! I think a lot of the naysayers haven’t driven the new generation, the boost is absolutely intoxicating. Ripping around the desert or the woods in a truck with 37’s, kings, and a couple of turbos would put a smile on anyone’s face, and that’s the whole point of building up a truck.

I still prefer a naturally aspirated V8 but I’ll admit, the boost is indeed intoxicating.

All this concern over the 3rd gen’s reliability will eventually blow over. Just wish people would stop feeding into it so more manufacturing companies can move forward with some R&D.

Finally got a chance to drive on some sand while fishing this morning and afternoon at the coast. Not exactly "duning" but it was still fun to speed up on something other than pavement. I think I'm in the market for some paddle tires now. LOL

More shiny machined metal parts? Yes, please! This dual oil catch kit arrived and I'll be taking the hour it should take to install this tomorrow. Nicely machined billet cans with integrated dip sticks. Nice touch!

Sounds great and I like how they exit before the wheel instead of after. What kit is that?

Catch cans in. I just surpassed 4K miles yesterday and really wasn't expecting to see much oil collecting inside the vent hoses. Driver side wasn't too bad - one or two drips as soon as I disconnected the hose. The passenger side was worse and the hose continued to weep oil while sitting on my work bench. It'll be interesting to see how much these collect.
