What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Pretty sure I seen height adjustable 4600s before. Not recently, but years ago. I could be misremembering tho honestly.

 

5100s are the adjustable 4600s to hear Bilstein tell it. If you want stock height, 4600. If you want lift, 5100. Adding lift springs to 4600s sounds like a no-no to me, although some members have apparently done it.

 

I just did a quick search and surf, and it seem 4600 are for OEM static ride height and are not recommend for any sort of lift.

The ones I'm thinking of were black rubbers and yellow painted bodies and we're on a classic Chevy square body in the Norfolk naval base parking lot. So I was wrong. But they were 100% adjustable as that mother trucker was lifted like 4 or 5 inches. It was restored really nicely as well, orange on white cab paint and tan on brown interior. And it was twin manual shifters. 4 speed trans and a 4 mode transfer case 4wd. Oh and it had the classic Chevy white painted steelies.

 

My truck came with 4600's from the factory??? Or some rendition of blue and yellow Bilsteins. So I'd assume you are correct.

 

I installed 4600s in mine too. Had to leave something out so I could have enough threads on the center bolt to thread the nut on there. Don't remember what it was. Spacer level here. I is broke.

 

Update on these first set on the picture for the third brake light. Those bulbs are trash! Can't say they lasted a year before flickering and diodes burning out. Tails are still working just fine

 

Get the Sylvania ZEVOs if available in the bulb type and color you want and call it good. They have lifetime warranty. The super duper ultra big time brightest Chinesium bulbs may be brighter but you see how well they last.

 

Those factory "4600s" are an OEM version of the 4600, but are different than the off the shelf ones. Less robust.

Looks like "making the turn" up the cam timing gear case would be the improved way, and probably a better seal.

 

Yup, that's how I did mine. I didn't want to say anything about how you did yours. But that section of the FSM actually seems to show smoothing out at the half-moons like I was saying you need to do.

I looked it up after seeing how fucked/incorrect most YouTube videos I checked out prior to doing the work were.

 

Yesterday, I put a longer eye bolt on my LSPV bracket. The eye bolt I used only has a portion of the bolt threaded and at the lowest spot, its about half an inch higher than the stock bolt was maxed out. This gives me about 2 more inches of adjustment. Feels a bit better so far.

I also ordered those JDMCAR ac knobs now they are back in stock.

Toyota could've made it so much simpler and went with the half moon universal stereo and ac knobs shaft that many many others use but no, they had to go an Toyota-ize the mounting shaft for those knobs. LOL

 

You may want to try some gun bluing, if you've got any. Could probably get a really nice color without any paint.

Yep. A hundred milesish on it now and I'm still dry. I'll have to start taking a look at the later manual for process updates.

 

I think as long as you spiderweb that right-angle, you could paint clown faces with the FIPG and it'd still work.

When I got into my heads, there were remnants of both white and black FIPG in that corner, so whoever was in there last didn't even bother cleaning out what was there prior before reapplying the last time they were in there. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the 2nd owner (he only had the truck maybe 8-10k miles) may've done it, and when he saw how much crust there was in the driver's head, he bailed and traded it in. Mine was arguably as-crusty as yours, but I'm sure your driver head wasn't quite as varnish-char'd as mine. But that dbl-FIPG stupidity led to my VCs leaking.

 

I put a small piece of adhesive lined heat shrink around mine to keep them together.

One had already cracked pretty good.

 

Every time I have to remove them for whatever reason one usually loses units small clip. One was cracked so I replaced it with some cheap Amazon replacements.

I was working installing a new water pump, thermostat, fan clutch, and radiator yesterday and everything was going great until it was time for the new radiator. I dropped it in and realized the nipple for the reservoir had broke off. I unboxed it and looked it over when it showed up about a week ago but I was mostly looking for screwed up fins and I missed this. I won't be able to get a hold of anyone from Mishimoto until at least Monday so I'm stuck using dad's truck or mom's car until they can send me a new one.

 

Dorman makes a nipple repair kit for about $20.

 

Just looked that up, pretty cool. I'll probably just have them send me a new one because I don't really want to spend $20 a brand new part. Thanks for the idea.
