My kid and I spent a few hours last weekend removing surface rust off the top plate of my RCI sliders. I bought them from ToyTec a few years ago and spoke to them about the rust. It's a problem that hopefully is only an issue with the previous top plate design without the cut out. Rust is mainly at the top plate welds.

My truck sits outside and is in the mountains a lot and I think the constant moisture caused the rust. No big deal as long as you stay on top of it because the Krylion rattle can recommended by them is a perfect match.

I got mine w/o the treadplate and powdercoated but will certainly keep an eye on it. Did you get yours bare or powdercoated?

Mine were powdercoated. You'll be fine if you don't have the top plate. I needed it for the kid and dog. The rust is only at the top plate where the snow sits and the rest of the sliders are perfect.

RCI has been great. We have a 4Runner, Taco, and Tundra with RCI stuff. It's nice to have them so close. I offered up my truck a few times as a tester for free shit and it never worked.

funny you should say that, the kid there who loaded mine into my truck made it look easy so I asked him what they weigh each - he said ~50 lbs more or less.

I got home and unloaded them and thought "50 lbs my furry old butt!!" I weighed them and they're closer to ~90 lbs each.

Shit, good to know! I got mine made without top plates and in bare metal, so hopefully they’re only 89 lbs each :D

Do you mind sharing that exact paint recommendation... I've got to touch up a couple of spots on mine here shortly, and it'll save me a call in to RCI; overall my powder coat is doing well minus a few rock chips/scrapes..

Steelit works great for things like that. I use it all the time for bumper, frame, and rocksliders.

Last weekend I replaced the front and rear brakes, adjusted the parking brake and did a brake fluid flush.

Brakes were pretty well used up and were in need of replacing. Went with high carbon rotors and elite pads from AutoZone as this is what I've had on my wife's Yukon and now her TrailBoss and they've done really good so I figured I'd try them on my Tundra. So far they feel good, we will see what I think this weekend towing the boat.

Then I flushed the old fluid with new using the Motive Products Power Bleeder but went with the Speedi-Bleed reservoir cap. I also bought the quick connects from Speedi-Bleed and fit those to the Power Bleeder hose. I tested everything to make sure it held pressure before filling with fluid, everything went fine. Filled the power bleeder with fluid and started to flush the rear passenger caliper, everything seemed fine until I noticed a leak on the ground under the reservoir... It had started to leak from under the cap, so i took it apart, emptied the fluid out of the power bleeder and just took the cap off the reservoir when it got low to add more fluid, a bit of a pain but not horrible since the quick connect holds pressure in the bottle and the cap comes off easy, no issues after that.
I didn't take any pictures of the old fluid but the fluid in the reservoir wasn't bad, the fluid that came out of the rear was a little dirty but the fluid that came out of the front was pretty dirty.

Didn't do anything to my truck today, but think I will be parting ways with it soon. Just don't need 2 trucks. It's been a good one, zero issues and unmolested by me, pretty much factory other than $4k worth of color matched topper, racks and bed rug. Maybe there's some 3rd gen guys that need to get into something reliable. There are zero trucks like mine available in a 100 mile radius from me.

You either hit your head and now know French and can play piano like a badass or you are dazed and remembering how to spell your name...are you sure you need to part with it? I say this with all due respect, of course...hard to beat a first Gen though...I drove my 2UZ 4runner this morning and absolutely love this thing!

    Yup

Downsizing the camper. 33' is too big. Gonna get a 22-24' ultralite to pull with my FGT.

I like my 2019, but I don't know if I love it like I do my FGT. Just don't need both and I'm not selling the 2000. Ever.

Clean! Btw, that scosche magnet plate they stick to the backside of the mic is gonna fall off in a hot cab. Super glue, better tape, or maybe even Velcro would be better

I waited too long. It would have been smarter to address it last year. I wish my garage fit the Tundra.

Here's the paint RCI suggested. Home Depot and my hardware store didn't sell it, but I found it at O'Reilly's. Home Depot sells a rust removal wire wheel drill attachment that my son went to town with and it worked well. Sliders look better than they have in two years.

I've used that before on my steel hitch rack for bikes and it works well and looks good. HD and Lowes should certainly have the wire wheels for a drill but I've also found a set of different sizes at Harbor Freight for like $5.

BTW there's bridge construction on Northbound 25 just before you get to Longmont that brings traffic to a standstill for a long time so maybe divert to 287 around Frederick/Firestone area. When I was there yesterday we crawled at <5mph for 30 - 40 minutes.

Well not tundra related but would’ve been towing it with the tundra and racing. Went to pick this up had a deal lined up and the guy sold it from underneath me. Pissed.
