Oil analysis only please. Oil discussion has occurred at a rather lengthy discussion…

Note on sampling and Blackstone form.
    - Be sure to sample hot oil that’s been driven on for 10-15 mins. to allow any fuel residual/vapor to evaporate from the oil. (ok to let it cool a bit after driving for safety). Otherwise you can easily get a higher than normal fuel contamination percentage and a lower flashpoint temperature.
    - On your Blackstone form, “Make Up Oil Added” is how much oil, if any, you had to add between oil changes to keep the level up. (not how much oil you used for your oil change)
    - Personally, it’s very easy to fill the sample bottle off the draining oil stream when it’s about 1/2 way finished. Not messy at all. I’d never bother with trying to pump a sample from the dipstick tube. That tubing would be messy and who knows where in the pan that sample is coming from.

I got a pump off Amazon and took a sample and sent it off. Trying to get ahead of the big brown tidal wave of 0w-20 that this thread is sending to Blackstone. LOL.

You're making a joke but they are going to have a really good sample universe.

But if you want intermediate samples between changes, you need a pump... or perhaps a Fumoto. But the pump makes this dead easy and clean and if you lay the tubing up against the dipstick and cut it at the 1-quart low line you won't be anywhere near the pan and any sludge there.

Indeed. I am not sure of all the ins and outs of who "owns" this data, but it would behoove Toyota to try to get a hold of it if they can. May not be definitive, but it should help their engineering analyses. And as an owner I'd be fine with them having mine.

TGMO is very high on dimer moly. Lesser base oils and higher volatility than many other off the shelf oils.

There was some discussion that Toyota went to the europeans method of putting more moly into their Toy OEM oil partly because of the B58 BMW engine in the supras. In fact I use liquid moly oil in my Supra. Never even used the free dealership oil changes. Also even the American engine oil manufacturers have warmed up to moly in their oils in the past 15-20 years. Redline and other high end oil folks have been using it for years.

Blackstone has had my first Tundra oil for a week....definitely backed up!

This effort just started. My sample is in the mail as will be a bunch more soon. Not sure how fast they will turn them around.

I’m with ya but im sure owners had samples ran pre-recall. I remember several posts from blackstone last year but can’t find them

There are always a few folks who get theirs analyzed. But I didn't bother, because it is a Toyota and thought that the analyses would just be a waste of $... LOL. So, this issue got me to find my spare Blackstone containers and do one, and I suspect there are a bunch of newbies sampling, too.

3 weeks seems average. Aircraft seem to get priority (my buddy get his in a week) which makes sense as they need it for re-certification.

Waiting for my report to come back from Speed Diagnostix. Did it 500 miles, opened the filter and looked at the filter pleats, these were the few areas with debris. Will post results when I get it back.

Yes at 500 miles. At least the filter got it, not worried, have lifetime power train warranty, comes with the vehicle, South East Toyota/Dealership warranty.
