Yeah thats also what I was thinking. If anything I would go up in size to a 2ltr but I dont think the trouble of changing out the fittings is worth it

Yep works well. I’ll be snagging one this summer most likely.

I saw a carbon fiber one with a front scoop like the one pictured. Any issues with rain? I've been eyeing it off and on. May pick it up...

Man that's pretty slick looking! Figure removal of all the dents I received, new hood would probably be cheaper. Dig the looks of this!

My fenders took a beating also......maybe go CF fenders also. This is all dependent on what the adjuster says.

My concern also is rain. I ran a CF hood on an old nitrous SER sentra, yeah it was ricer'ed out, I was young lol. It had inserts I could put on for rain/ snow. Wonder if these options are the same deal?

Looks like some nice pieces! Are these widebody? Right now with stock and fender im running flush. Be sweet if these were flush without the fender flares.

The site said rain wasn't an issue and some made block for the vents.

Understood. This hood had plastic inserts that wing nutted on for storms. But if they say rain isn't a issue then so be it.

Does it need to be pinned?

From what I remember back in the day always pin CF hoods...but I wasn't sure if now days maybe they didn't need pinning. Good info.

Pinning is still needed at high speeds...or if it's latched solidly...is that a word?

The carbon fiber company highly recommended pinning even though it's reinforced.

Bear with me but from what I remember the lite weight of CF and highway speeds could be a bad mix. Pin for that extra insurance.

That only has 1/2" NPT ports, I would look for something with 3/4" inlet/outlet or you will introduce a restriction. Honestly, a larger reservoir only prolongs heat soak, you will still get to the same IATs as before, it will just take marginally longer to get there. A larger reservoir won't give you any delta difference between ambient and IATs.

Source: I bought the over-priced ProSpeed reservoir. I get the same IAT temperature delta as before, it just takes a couple of minutes longer to get there. Being made of metal and located in the engine bay doesn't help it with the heat soak either.

Seeing as it is over 90 80% of the time, I'll move on from adding water. Only 105 now. lol

Yeah, it just delays the inevitable. You need something to actively cool off the charge or the heat exchanger. Either a low % water meth injection, or one of those intercooler sprayers that straps to the heat exchanger and sprays onto the fins to cool it down.

What would be cool is something like a fuel chiller. It's basically a box with a aluminum tubing curled up inside with ends that terminate in fittings for connecting your fuel system to. The inside of the box is then filled with ice and the tubing and fluid within are cooled by the ice. The only issue with the fuel chillers is they are also 3/8" tubing, which would reduce flow in our use case. But if one could be made with 3/4 aluminum tubing, large mouth for ice and a petcock to drain it, that'd be the way to go. Once your IATs hit their usual delta, pull into a corner store, drain and fill with fresh ice...good to go.

Yes you’ll want to pin it the latch isn’t enough alone no matter the speed.

I doubt that would be an issue with a well designed hood. I would bet they don't run inserts on the hood so it's easy to tear through the carbon. Maybe @reywcms can comment on how the hood is attached at the front and at the hinge line and if there's metallic inserts bonded in.
