I spoke to them some more and they are using standard PID's and not manufacturer specific ones and currently there is no plan to allow for custom PID's. Sucks because I wanted it on the radio but doesn't look like there is anything happening anytime soon. He did ask me to send over the PID's for the trans temp but he didn't make any promises on anything.

So I guess for some model years the standard PID's work, and for some (like my 2019) they don't. :(

Maybe if enough of us call asking about this they'll get it in a firmware update?

Not sure with Android Auto. You'd have to find someone with it to try it out.

You just need to buy a ODB scanner. I bought this one-

    IMG_5579.jpg

Then download the ODB Fushion app. Then set it up. I also purchased extra Toyota PIDS for like $25 or something.

The bottom one, the more expensive one, It does say it works with both Carplay and Android Auto.

They probably never connected it which is why you can’t get the ATF temp. If an install shop spliced wires instead of using a plug I’d be pissed!

There are two connections - one on the main harness behind the head unit, the second being OBD. It’s possible you have one and not both?

Other recommendation would be disconnect the battery long enough for on-board computers to completely reset (you can touch the unhooked terminals together to help it along) - I’ve had communication issues this resolved in the past.

I'm not sure I understand... Isn't the data I am getting coming from the OBD?

There is a separate datalink cable that plugs into the radio harness.

This is probably the route I'll go, I actually already had that one on my Amazon list from before I decided to get the Kenwood.

So what source do you tap in carplay to get the Veepeak's readout to display on-screen?

Is that a screen mirroring thing, or is it actually opening the app on the HU?

Would I be getting the gauges, TPMS, etc. that I'm seeing if that wasn't connected?

I’m not sure what gets sourced where. There is a setting in the HU which lets you turn on and off OBD connection on command - might look at that and see if turning it on/ off changes anything.

The ODB Fushion app. It the actual app, not screen mirroring.

I remember this setting. It somehow got changed when the dealership did a software recall for the emergency response phone call system and I lost my transmission and engine temperature gauges, had to turn this setting back on to get the gauges back. @SD Surfer I would also recommend leafing through the settings and see if you can find something related OBD2 communication. I'll look through mine again this evening to see if I can find it again.

    Yes - it is.

go to the vehicle info page where you get tire pressure and click setup. Then click gauges. Then click OBD2 communication.

Yep, I found that while I was on my lunch break... switched it from "Enabled on Demand" to "Always Enabled" then Validated PID's again. Didn't seem to do anything.

I'll look later at all possible gauge positions, but the ones where it listed Trans Temp it was still grayed out.

So here's a probably stupid idea... Since this seems to be a year by year thing I wonder what would happen if the Maestro was reflashed as a different year that seems to work.

I have the scanner and app (with the 2021 Tundra pack) what sensor are you using for AT temp and TC temp? I see 3 on the app but not sure which is which

Also, where did you find TC lockup? I haven't found that one

Working with Maestro on this. Here is our recent exchange and something else to try. They are going to send me an alternative firmware to try and push but I've gotta either try a different USB cable or something because my laptop isn't recognizing the Maestro when I plug in to it.

Looks like those are what we have present. Can you try flashing the RR again, but choose "show all available firmware" when you get to the recommended firmware page, then choose version 4.1?

See if it pulls the info in on that version and we can work from there.

    Thanks!

Dude, you're my hero... Well freaking done!:bowdown::101010:

So is that part of the Maestro firmware version 4.1 you posted above from your correspondence with them?

Like if my installer reflashes with that firmware are the PID's you gave 'em already written in there?

This was firmware 4.8 that they sent to me. I had sent them those PID’s and they confirmed those are the ones they were already searching for. He loaded up 4.8 to my account and I flashed it and it worked first time. Very easy to reflash yourself. Create a free account, remove the unit from the vehicle, download the web link desktop app, connect to it with a usb-a to micro charge//sync cable, follow the steps on the screen. I’d reach out to maestro service once you’ve created the account and ask them to send you v4.8 user firmware and they will put it on your account and when you connect it’ll pull it down from the cloud.

So is that firmware they sent specifically to you, or is it available when anyone selects "Show all available firmware"?

And do you know if it's year specific? You have an '18 and I have a '19
