2 sets of different high lift, longer duration cams were dyno tested by me on a completely stock NA truck with no gains up to 6000 RPM back in 2015/2016.
It is important to note that this was before any custom tuning was available. It is quite possible that on a supercharged truck with tuning VVTi on the dyno and a higher redline gains could be achieved using cams. I did run a set of those original cams on my race truck.
The VVTi tables had to be modified significantly from the stock ones while dyno tuning and we got huge gains from doing that, in the 30-40 horsepower range iirc.
Don’t know how much of that was from the cams, as I had a lot of other things done at the same time, but the changes that netted the most power were up to a 20 degree deviation from the stock VVTi tables.
For comparison, a stock cam supercharged truck benefits from up to 5 degree changes to the tables, anything more than that is detrimental.

if there's no performance gain from cams, can we just do a loapy-idle tune so it sounds like the truck has cams? Still no performance gain, but would save a lot of money while still sounding cool and impressing the other people in the home depot parking lot.

you can still get that cool v8 sound with a tesla, it's just a lot more work.

I think @ViktorG did a video on how to get that over cammed sound.

Alright got the gutted front stockers back on up and running now to tune! Threw in the O2 spacers on rear and running the secondary cats. Just a FYI for anyone cutting the driver side DP. A 2" EMT conduit fits perfectly in the 2 3/4" stock pipes. Takes some finesse but it fits snug, enough for me to temp repair my driver side cut pipe. Slide it in and clamped both side shit is air tight. Good for anyone who decides to gut a stockers secondary cat for more flow.

“Ghost cam tune” is an ECM tune that creates the loping effect and sound of a rowdy performance cam at idle without actually changing the camshafts.

On a different topic, here is the inside of the Harrop after putting nitrous, fuel, water and meth through it. Rotor coating still in decent shape.

It’s not for everyone, that’s for sure. I created it because a couple of customers requested it, didn’t run it on my truck except for testing.

Good pics! Nice to see the rotors. I'm not worried as it's not 100% methanol. That's where the damage comes in.

Agreed! At least go to a 2.2, should get him in the running if he drops to 35s especially.
