I am going to attempt to change my timing belt and water pump today. My only concern is that I don’t have the crankshaft pulley holder. Has anyone done this job without it and if so, how?

I didn’t have one either. Impact gun spun the crank bolt off for me.

Ok. But what about when you wanted to torque it back on?

Wrap a leather belt around it and hold tight. Find something to squeeze it like a strap wrench or go get something from the hardware store like mentioned above.

You have to idiot-proof the chain clamp suggestion though, and make sure people know to NEVER use a chain clamp on the surface the belt slides across. Always grab it by the hip/lip of the pulley.

But yeah, this topic has been beat to death this week, I dunno why people can't look at the thread list before posting and see all the other threads (sticky or otherwise) covering this topic.

Old belt, cut to length and duct taped to the pulley did the job for me.

This is exactly what I did except two holes where you have the welded pins. Bolted it to the pully and used a socket on a breaker bar to loosen, torque wrench to tighten.

I ordered a pully holder from Amazon, my impact couldnt break it. I had to use the pully tool and a very long breaker bar with a cheater bar to break mines
