I understand links. Specifically, "This Tread" has TONS of useful information but I did not find the audio, audio upgrades and cameras section yet. That was the thread I need. I will find it, just have to wade through the **** to find it :/ I checked the other links sent to.

The first two replies have all the info you need.

It's all organized into sections. Scroll about 4 or 5 sections down in the 1st reply, it's literally right there.

Finished the radio swap, new unit works and fits nicely, the back up camera is great to have after 22 years. The stereo wiring diagrams from the forum links were invaluable. Was originally looking at the wrong connector (from the amp) to connect the new radio to. Brought the Metra 70-1761 which nicely connected to two harnesses previously to the (removed) amp. This two connector set is only $5 on Amazon. The Metra trim 95-8202 finished up the sides. Followed shifty's route and ran the BU cable on top of the frame to the rubber grommet, punched a 0.5" hole and added a sub grommet to finish it. The Posi-Taps are a great idea and will buy those for stock, they will come in handy. I found corrosion on the brake connections under the grommet. This surprised me as I have no corrosion anywhere except this part. It hasn't used fluid so I don't think there was a leak. Attached are some pics of the install. Thanks to the forum for the advice and resources. IMG_4330.jpg IMG_4324.jpg IMG_4316.jpg IMG_4319.jpg

Where is the large grommet located on the truck?

Your stereo looks almost exactly like the Chinesium unit I just sent back to Amazon. Did you wire your steering controls? Do you have steering controls?

I'm not familiar with Chinesium brand. Cars made in 2003 did not have steering controls. Later model cars incorporated steering SIGNALS to help the back up cameras show the car path based on the steering wheel position.
The unit has great sound, many features, the blue tooth seamlessly connects to my phone and plays Sirius XM or car navigation maps or phone calls, USB, micro SD, and wall paper.

"Chinesium" is a generic name to describe bullshit off-brands from China. Like, the vast majority of stuff sold on scAmazon these days, no real historical name that you can look up the history on deeper than 5-10 years. "ATOTO" being one of those brands, probably one of the more established, much more so than a lot of the ALLCAPS made-up-name sellers on scAmazon.

Essentially someone in mainland China realized you could take low-end trash being made for companies like BOSS, rebrand it with any name you like and mark it down to be the lowest on the market, and make a lot of money. Change your name in 6-12 months, and you never need to honor any warranty or offer support because the company doesn't exist anymore. The product technically functions, and might sound okay-ish, but if you need support, or it dies on you, you're screwed.

This, unfortunately, has started to shift the market a bit by allowing those garbage brands to grab a foothold, and normalize short-longevity, lower-quality products across the board. The unfortunate part is, frankly, higher-quality established-name-brand stuff isn't exorbitantly more expensive, is better quality, has long-time support, updates, and other (often better) features. The updates part is key, also. Especially for Android-based head units. If they stop offering support in 12 months because that name brand doesn't exit, how do you get updates to fix bugs, or secure your head unit?

IIRC, updated clockspring in later models is what provides the signals to show backup cam steering position. You may find your '03 has some wiring for steering controls. If you're interested in digging on that, or would like steering wheel controls, here you go.

Can you please share a pic or two showing how you routed the camera wire through the tailgate?

There's many holes inside the tailgate right below the handle. The wiring on mine goes right down the nearest hole and exits the bottom of the tailgate about 3 to 5 or so inches to the right from center. I placed some plastic split loom around my camera cable to protect it and then it goes thru the hole in the bed where you would stick the jack handle tool to lower the spare.

How then do you remove the tailgate?

The camera disconnects from the the video cable running up to the headunit but I've not needed to remove the tailgate but once when I installed the torque bar that helps to raise the tailgate.
