    Removed Turdicles. TRDicles. TRDecals.

Now I'll have to find another way to prove to people how cool I am. Still on the fence about removing the rest of the badging. Might keep the Toyota Tundra door decals and at least take the V8 tags off the tailgate.

Hit any pot holes lately that might of rotated your alignment cams? I'd also jack the front of your truck up and check for play in the front end just to see.

What do we think about putting new LBJ’s on lower control arms that probably should be replaced. They aren’t in dire need of replacement (control arms) but the bushings aren’t great. Besides the bushings there is no rust or anything. I have the LBJs in the garage ready to go on but don’t have the money or time to spring for control arms for awhile.

once the bjs are installed can I change out the control arms later and reuse the new bjs with new bolts or just spring for everything all new again?

Oh if you have old bushing this can happen. Typically change them out for the red bushings which have a name I can’t spell.

If you do, your cab may sound like you have a SC or Turbo upgrade fyi but as long as you turn on some music, it’s fine.

I made the Cowl end like this to give it an extra inch of protection from a gush of water. Think I posted it in this thread but not sure where so here’s a drawingB2094C23-6799-4199-9D9F-35F412C8C10B.jpgintake still 3”

If it’s time for LBJs, do the LBJs. New bolts from stealer when you do the LCAs. If you’re getting the “jumping on the mattress” sound from the LCA bushings, a little grease helps

If you do, the tubing that fits is the 3” white tubing used for garden drain systems. The black & white used for house plumbing won’t fit. And just in case you missed the edit above, this is what the Cawl space end looks like for an extra inch of protection.E2923CF5-645B-41A1-8B2F-DF02F47F8419.jpg

It's nice when you can time everything perfectly, but like others mentioned - if it's time to do the LBJs, do them. The price of the bolts is a little annoying, but better than a ball joint failure because you put it off.

I did my LBJs right away. Then realized that to do my UBJs, I'd need to either press the LBJ out again along with the tie rod end, or take out the 8 bolts, which shouldn't be reused. I just cut my losses and replaced the 8 LBJ bolts again when I did the UBJs. Had I known I was going to do both jobs within the same month I would have done them together. But all I knew when I bought the truck was that I had no idea if the lowers had ever been done. It was time to do it. If you don't have a known date coming up pretty soon that you'll be able to replace the LCAs, and it's time for the LBJs, do them.

Is your drawing showing that you put the intake upward in the cowl space to give a little extra height? Thanks for all the info, ill probably start this project on the weekend! Woohoo

Great tip on finding the right PVC pipe as well, saves me from an extra trip to the hardware store although im sure ill be making a few trips anyways, haha

Yes upward just in case there’s a lot of water that gets into the cowl space one day. @FrenchToasty reminded me how much water ends up on our windshields when we hit a puddle at speed.

I haven't hit anything crazy that I can think of. It's been going on for a little while but I thought it was my tires. I did a tire rotation and some highway driving and noticed it hadn't changed at all. I can see some some spots where the rack has probably moved side to side and the bushing cleared some dirt off the rack. I've checked for play in bearings, tire rods, and LBJs with zero movement.

I changed out my rack I think 2 years ago, so it seemed premature for the bushings to wear out. But after taking a look and seeing where dirt has been cleaned off the rack from what I'm thinking is bushing movement, they might be needing replacement.

Check Torque maybe 1st? If I remember correctly tho, regular bushings tend to fail sooner when our trucks are lifted.

So you used 3" pvc piping as well? I'm planning on doing this soon and can't choose between 4" or 3". I did buy some 4" flexible air ducting to see if I could make that work. But it looks like 3" might of been the answer

That would be pretty fast, but I'm not ruling it out. Lifted and hauling a truck camper could put added stress on them too. I'll check torque first. Thanks for the suggestions.

I really like this idea. The effectiveness of a snorkel (perfectly effective for the kind of water most of us are realistically going to see), without the need to display it for everyone to see.

Yea and Ive also heard a lot of people talk about its effectiveness at cutting down on dust getting into your air filter which is definitely a benefit too! I dont see much water but I also am not ready to get into a puddle that reaches over my engine bay either. But dusty roads are something I drive over often. So just for that benefit alone it should be pretty useful. And I also dont want the look of an exterior snorkel either or cutting into my outer fender.

And like @Voss said, now that ive cut so much of my fender liner away my intake is much more vulnerable, so even dipping into a puddle or going through one quickly could splash water and mud into my air filter. Im gonna probably start working on removing my fender today.

Makes sense. With all this stuff, I get it. And whatever people want to do to their truck, including adding every overlanding accessory they can find, is fine if that's what they want to do. And I'm sure some people actually need their snorkel. But it still makes me laugh sometimes when I see snorkels. Of course I don't want to destroy my engine...but knowing the streams I've driven across, without even thinking "I wish I had a snorkel"...they were probably deeper water than 70% of the people with snorkels will ever see. To completely make up a percentage.

Didn't even think about dust. I never seek out water but have occasionally found myself on a road with a river crossing. But dust. Dusty roads are a constant for me.

Fairly simple. 3 bolts on top, 2 near door and a few behind the headlights. Hardest part was putting the fender liner and wheel well molding back on. Careful of those clips

Oh and there’s some rubber thing near the top of the fender where it meets the door. Mindful of that so you don’t have to remove the fender a 2nd time cause you didn’t notice it.

Def get the alignment checked. Cock-eyed steering wheel make me think that, but as to why? Steering rack, outer tie-rod ends, LBJ would be where I start. Does your steering move/shift/jar a decent amount when you hit holes in the road?

    Nice UCA's ;)
