I like the color combo. Tan top and bronze wheels looks good with the white

Aluminum bar through the front window? I bought my top used and there was no bar included. Am I missing a part or is this post wrong?

Ok gents, i got my soft topper installed, beat the shit out of it in Moab on the white rim trail, slept out of the back, everything was great

HOWEVER, my OCD is not letting my be comfortable with the way the bed rails are sitting, they have a slight inward lean, i have tried adjusting them multiple times, and got them in a better place, redid the clamps and made sure the feet were as flush as possible against the bed… the pivot bracket is not quite flush. I also did loosened the clamps a bit that helped.
My small adjustments helped and at the most rear bar bottom plastic brackets are now straight

i have a slight gap between the clamps and bed rail on the inner edge, but if i bring the rails in anymore the bottom end near the tailgate/weather stripping is going to hang into my bed, which idk if that’s better than having an inward lean?? I also moved the back clamps a little closer to the tailgate and the seemed to help

Any of you guys have similar issues when installing?? Is it possible to get 100% flat / flush with the bottom of the bed rail and the edges of the bed?

I also see my utility rails stuck out just a bit and i think that also prevents from sitting true flush. For some reason the passenger side is giving me a little more issues than the drivers side.

That's about my experience. Mine both have a inward lean. It's annoying but doesn't affect function. I've removed and installed mine several times and it's always the same story.

Same here. I don't have the utility tracks so I'm using the other style clamps. I've always attributed it to clamp design and physics. Mine too improves if I ease up on the clamps a bit, but too much and it starts to leak when I wash it. :notsure:

Mine has that lean as well.

    It doesn't bother me.

Has anyone tried to shim between the clamp pieces? Slip a washer in between them so it pushes the bottom tip of the top piece in which may push the actual clamp out and flatten the pressure?

In this spot. Put a washer in there to see if it changes the position of the top piece of the clamp. It can’t push the bottom in any further. But would it push the top out?

    Awesome!

I love mine(s)? I love my ST for my 08, I couldn't bear to be without one for my '21.

Rolling "safari" is great during warm weather.

I am looking at getting a soft topper in the near future...has anybody seen a way to add an awning to one of these? Would it be best to add an awning mounted to the cab I guess and have it shifted back towards the topper?

I want the versatility of the soft top, but want to be able to mount an awning and I am not seeing a good way to do that. I don't want to go the metal rack over the soft topper route either.

I put one on my new to me ‘21 and love it. I had one on the Tacoma and it was super handy with my day to day travels and wanderings around Northern California and Nevada. This one is quite a bit larger, but functions just the same. Love the utilitarian look as well. I considered the Tan color, and sometimes wish I would have with the decreased heat in the bed, but in the end the black Softopper won the debate.

I was about to pull the trigger on the softopper but ran across the Fas-Top. Ended up getting the Fas-Top Traveler that also converts back to a tonneu cover

Oooo didnt know there was this thread here.

I have had three soft toppers with my most current being my tundra. As someone who has had a GFC, steel bed racks, fiberglass shells from ARE and LEER… the soft topper has always been my absolute favorite for sheer simplicity, ease of use and quality of product.

It looked cool but that was about it. It’s awful at everything- Slow, long wheelbase, heavy, super low weight capacity, awful to tow with. I put 15k miles on it before I sold it and in that 15k miles I went through:
    • rear diff that grenaded itself on the freeway
    • bricked infotainment that required a full unit replacement
    • Driver Headlight DRL stopped working at 4k miles
    • Engine developed a ticking that sounded like it was badly broken
    • Issues with the aluminum steering box (to be fair they fixed this in recent model years by swapping to a steel one)

it spent more time at the dealer than any vehicle I have owned. They fixed everything (except the engine tick) under warranty but I certainly wont buy another Jeep.

lots of people like them and I know people who have zero issues with them so YRMV

    Dam she was pretty tho

Just what I needed to hear! Thank you Sir and sorry about your experience with that thing. Now it makes sense why those things are sitting on dealer lots. And I get what you're saying with Jeeps being a crapshoot. I had a 93 Wrangler that was bulletproof and a 98 Grand Cherokee that was hot garbage.

How much clearance is there between the bed rail system and the tubes for the Softopper frame? From pics here it's hard to tell. I have a panel currently hanging off my bed rail and am wondering if the tube frame will hit it?

@Softopper I’m on the website now and have been considering a tan top for my truck. The cover automatically seems to be loaded, and available in gray only. Doesn’t seem to be an option to change cover color to tan. Is a tan cover available? Thanks.

Great question! For this promotion, the free boot cover that is included is a limited edition grey cover. Our standard cover is black. Unfortunately, we do not offer the boot cover in tan at this time.

@Softopper I have a softopper from my 2021 Tundra SR5 Crewmax 5.5 ft bed. I recently upgraded to a 2025 Tundra Limited Crewmax 5.5 bed. Can I make my old softopper work on the new truck? Is there anyway to modify it to fit?

With the body style change for the new Tundra's we did have to make a whole new Softopper model for them to ensure the best fit. The dimensions of the bed changed slightly. You can definitely try your old Softopper on the new truck to see if you are okay with it. However, we do recommend getting the new Softopper model to ensure the best fit and function.
