Come on guys. A $20 stud finder would be a good thing to have in your toolbox anyways. Right tools for the job make life easy.

also, I vote 2nd wall since it appears to be the front of the garage and would be easily seen when wrenching on any side of a vehicle but the back.

 

It's funny to me that your mind went there. That was not even a consideration for me. Are home burglaries common there? Pretty low risk here.

 

I have a stud finder. That was not my concern. What about the electrical on that stud. Low risk of hitting it with a screw?

 

Don’t stand in a puddle or touch anything conductive while driving screws.

 

I have trust issues with my stud finder. It's a notorious liar so sometimes I verify.

 

I like option 2 next to the door (to the house I presume?). That’s where I’d put it.

 

For mounting a TV in a garage I’d find the optimum location height and width. Mark the outside of the mounting bracket with pencil. Cut along pencil line with multi tool or drywall knife or box cutter. Remove drywall. Take photo. Add extra blocks as needed or just replace with 5/8 plywood. Yes it’s more combustible but f it. Peace of mind and no risk.

 

Who breaks into a garage and the goal is to take the most common, least valuable item that’s bolted down. Probably no one.

I'd cut a small hole that's big enough to fit your arm behind where you want to mount the TV, and just locate any hazards, then patch the hole.

 

I understood the “thief” as “poaching free content” rather than actually stealing the TV…

General idea, not sure how your specific TV mount would work. The wiring for that outlet probably runs along the side of that stud to the ceiling.

 

I used to have a tv remote control app on my phone that let you program and save to several tv's, and i'd saved maybe a dozen different tv's to it & could mute em secretly. Worked like a champ.

Pretty easy to just pop a RV off the wall mount. They usually have quick releases. Only the mount is actually bolted on to the wall

Drywall is likely already attached with screws (or nails) and doesn't hit electrical centered in stud if use correct length fastener.

I just had my annual. Gained about 20# in last 2 years, lost 3" in height. Guess I need to get some exercise. Main difference in my life is sitting at a desk last 2 years whereas I'd been working 3 jobs until then, the other two being purely physical labor. I'm'a gonn'a need'a find a better balance.

I'd say on the block wall. I think you'll get less sun glare than you might on the drywall wall.

 

Also, easy bulletproof install. Masonry bit, couple holes, and tapcons ... that shit is going NOWHERE.

 

I was thinking the same thing. I like both locations but the tv would blend into the dark walls better when not in use.

 

Paint is cheap. But I'd go there, exterior wall.

If there's any power feeding a light in the ceiling, you may be able to easily drop a conduit from the ceiling (or flex/bx) down the wall, you'll only need to drill for a conduit hanger/standoff every 36", which means maybe two for stability? Drop a quad-box on the wall for good measure, behind where the TV will mount.

Well, didn’t get my eclipse glasses for Monday. Both two different Walmarts cancelled my order. The 2nd one just posted some online and within two minutes, I ordered it. Shows how lazy those mofos are in filling an order. Plan to hit up two Warby Parkers tomorrow when they open and then a Sonic Drive-In to see if any are still stocking free ones.

Probably just as well on the Walmart Vision Scientific glasses. They have a fake website with a phone and email that are both disconnected and don’t exist. Huh. Must really be a non-certified made in China no name brand.
