Magnuson Magnum 2650

let us know , I am very interested to know how that specific tune looks because I actually have an MPVI as well and was looking to log the same way.

 

@Fastzdriver I believe the rtd3 tune is locked. It was discussed in the general supercharger thread. You should be able to log but not much else.

yeah so if you can log from it you should still be able to compare versus to what a real custom tune would look like correct ? Locked just means you can’t adjust it but if you plan on writing a new tune it still would be nice to know what magnuson actually tunes correct or is that false ?

 

@carn_dogg @ARES35 what are the limits of the RTD from magnuson? Can you log from it and see the canned tune values?

All I know is from reading on the SC forum where you can't see the tune. When writing a new tune HPt gives you a generic TRD tune based on your Vin or year. You can the build on that. You will also need a wide band O2 as the stock O2's only read to .82 lambda.

Hopefully some other members will reply that used the RTD.

 

yeah that makes sense, that RTD unit basically only designed to get things running not really meant to be logged from? I.e wide band install before hand, so if I had brand new headers probably would be smart to have a wide band installed before the collector?

 

You can log from the rtd device but that’s it. Using vcm scanner.

 

You can’t view the tune at all. It’s completely locked to anyone

AEM is 18 inches and Innovate 24 inches from manifold. I have mine just before my primary cat and most aem and innovate user use the same location. Stock O2's just go in the header primary location.

With that 24 inch measurement do you know if that’s from the top of the manifold or the end?

I'm not sure, but most just have the O2 bung welded in before the primary cat just after the collector flange. You just don't want it in the primary tube or too far away.

 

Yeah right before the cat is logical and works for everyone as far as I’m aware. Just mount above 9:00/3:00 to avoid condensation on the sensor and you’re good to go.

Understood. I just did some logging with the RTD3 today for shits and grins. Just wanted to put it in the thread in case anyone who was considering the Mag 2650 SC they would know specifically what it comes with. I'll still be buying the MPVI3 and credits so I can get a tune from @snivilous once all my parts are in hand and installed.

@carn_dogg What fuel pump are you running with your setup? My 76mm pulley arrived today and trying to get my complete list of parts finalized for the next stage of the build.

 

Probably haven't gotten to it yet. Only 260 pages in so far on that thread. It's quite a read! Only 220 more to go

 

Hes got the stock pump from the maggy kit. He did add 650 injectors recently. I believe he also will be getting a tune from sniv.
I have the 76mm pulley on mine with all the reg kit parts and all ive done is boost reference my fuel rail. Carn is near or at sea level and im up 7k ft.
One day if I ever get enough saved ill get the tools to get a custom tune from sniv also but thats quite a ways

Just as an FYI, it is possible to write custom tunes via the RTD devices. You’re not locked into using what the Mfg. supplied.

$425 for that setup, using the supplied RTD.

Actually saw the TRD injectors maxing out at around 5600 rpm today which was a bit concerning. Definitely need a better tune until I'm ready to upgrade those and install the 76mm pulley.

 

Its good that your at least logging and seeing the limitations on the canned tune.
So many just load and go and don't realize it's not one size fits all. Some may not get into the upper rpm range but when they do it could cause a catastrophic failure under load as they are running out of fuel and lean out. Been there done that...

 

On stock tune I would see up to 11.5-12.2 A\F on WOT runs. Thus my personnel reason to switch to a MPVI 3 instead of the RTD tune.

 

Have you boost refernced your fuel rail?
