Reset Flex Fuel Alcohol/Ethanol Percentage Level with Bidirectional Scan Tool

I need to buy one of these but do not have an extra 400 to spend on it. I only realized I had the issue when my MPG dropped dramatically.

I would make sure the D7 in your post has the same functionality to reset fuel alcohol calculation as the D7S that you have used.

If so, that is a good price.

 

It says it does the fuel density relearn so hopefully it’s good.

 

Tampa to Naples isn't far so that would be really appreciated but this lighting deal has me really thinking about buying it, especially since this seems like an ongoing thing I will need to do from time to time.

 

These units are very useful. Between both my trucks it will be beneficial. I already ordered two key fobs to try that programming feature.

 

I've been trying to buy it but it's $329 for me. Idk how you got it for $269. This isn't the first time Amazon won't give me the lower price that others see either, it's very odd.

Performed the "Fuel Density Learning Value Reset" using the D7S scan tool just now and truck started up great on cold start. I drove to the gas station about 4 miles away and the Ethanol learned percentage was reading 5.3% (It was at 85% prior to resetting). I filled up with 87 unleaded and checked when I got home and the percentage is reading 14%. Not positive if its normal to fluctuate like that but my guess is that's fine. Turned ignition off and on a few times and its starting better than it has in several weeks since the issue started happening again.

 

did your scan tool also reset the fuel trim values?

It is two separate steps with Techstream; one step with the Launch scanner. May depend on the software the D7S uses.

 

Yes, those values were reset also. The long term fuel trim was -23. After the reset it's 0.

 

Mine fluctuated a while after reset.
By the 3rd fill up it stabilized.

 

I just bought the Launch X431 Elite for Toyota Lexus, $169 on Amazon, was able to read and reset my fuel density in less than 5 mins….

It was at 85%…

 

Anyone in Oklahoma City or in the state of Oklahoma that wouldnt mine letting me buy them a case of brews in exchange for letting me come to them to do this reset? I have a 2013 SR5 and have the exact same issue. Thought it was just normal for the truck! Turns out it isnt!

 

Just pulled the trigger on one too. $10 off right now.

Dang, I just looked, that was the one I bought but it doesn’t show the Toyota Lexus anymore, just Ford and Honda.

It won't work if you buy a Ford scan tool. There are 2 Toyota/Lexus versions available.

this is crazy that Toyota knows about this issue since way back and they are just letting us suffer with this. been having same issue since 30k miles been to the dealer 5 times and no solution ordered the computer yesterday.how often are you guys resetting ?
