Does this look normal for a stock 4x4 suspension??

This is an 06, gen 1, SR5, 4x4, with 170,000 miles. The guy that owns this says it’s completely stock. Im not sure yet what size tires are on it. It just appears that the front end is considerably low compared to the rear? I guess most gen 1’s i see have larger tires, and maybe thats throwing me off visually?IMG_0475.jpgIMG_0477.jpg

Can you take some pics of the front suspension? I saw one for sale with front rake like that and both front lower shock mounts were shorn off (jumping train tracks I guess!).

It definitely could be stock, but the front suspension could have a ton of miles on it and need replaced resulting in the sag

    No it does not.

I can't tell if it's both front and rear? Back end definitely looks higher than stock, and front end looks lower but it could just be 'cuz the back's raised.

It has a tow package, so maybe air bags or add-a-leaf for tongue weight?

I don’t think it said anything about airbags or suspension in the listing.
Is that the truck listed in Vegas? Looked pretty clean, except for all the paint. My guess is the rear springs have been replaced, and/or the front needs to be replaced.

Just added the pic of the other side. It does not look as extreme as the other.

Look - the reality is, you're never going to know until you look at the truck.

Chances are the current owner has no fucking clue what they've got and/or hasn't had it long enough to really dig into it. Go look at it. Tread with caution. Triple-check the frame and make sure the timing belt has been done within the last 100k miles or 10yr, and don't rely on a sticker to tell you that, you'll want proof in the form of a legitimate receipt.

Thanks, agreed, the issue is its 700 miles away. I would love to find something more local, but New Mexico vehicles are mostly dogs. Will talk to the owner today, former USAF fighter pilot. Im expecting based on that he will have decent records. He owned it for 11 years. If all goes well, ill arrange a 3rd party inspection and pull a carfax before flying out. The link you gave earlier has amazing content, still reading it.

FYI, after having the owner take it to a shop for a used vehicle inspection, they concluded the front shocks were shot. But no big deal, I flew out Wednesday and drove it home Thursday. Aside from the paint and a few expected maintenance issues, it is a beautiful example of a Tundra well cared for. Im now part of the cool kid club and understand the hype. What a beautiful machine!

Congrats! My stock 4WD Double cab is not far off from looking like yours. Old worn out suspension - mine has 185k. It just means we're both due for a sweet suspension upgrade and some new tires! Welcome to the club.

@208Tyler has several good videos on options. Note, Tyler has an AC, and you have a DC, so your mileage (liftage?) will vary.

Also have this question, mine is similar at 120k miles and wondering when the suspension should be replaced?

A quick inspection of the suspension components will yield all your answers.

if you haven't replaced your lower ball joints and timing belt/water pump. Or if there is no history of those being replaced. Those are your top priority. Because if one of those fails (the belt or lower ball joints) you truck is gonna be in the shop for a while and your wallet is gonna be MUCH lighter. And that's just for the ball joint. If your belt goes and your at any sort of RPM, might as well look for a new truck/engine

And I might add, dont trust a used car inspection to spot worn LBJ’s. Paid $100 for an inspection as the truck was in another state. All checked good. I got it home and checked, one side has a slight amount of play. Replacing Sunday.

Belt, water pump, steering rack, and mostly any other normal maintenance has been kept and documented. Well maintained and good engine health, but now looking to start to do the bigger things and freshen it up a bit.
