When listening to the satellite radio in my truck, it loses the reception when I drive under just about anything. Even if some tree branches are slightly over the road, I lose reception. Has anyone had this problem? My VW rarely ever lost signal. Thanks

That sucks. I was gonna ask the dealer to look at. I thought maybe there was a problem with the receiver.

It happens to me from time to time. Just for a few seconds. Minor annoyance.

I had the same problem with my wife's Highlander. Dealer said nothing was wrong with it. I am assuming it is a Toyota problem, as my brother and uncle have other brand vehicles and their XM works great. And I have had bad service all over - in cities and suburbs under bridges and trees, to up on top of mountains in norther PA and the Adirondacks. It's brutal.

It's by far the worst out all the vehicles I've had or been in. I wonder if there is an aftermath antenna for xm that will pickup the signal better.

my Tacoma did that as well as my tundra. it is very minor and only rarely happens under bridges or overpasses. its like a 1 second blip. no biggie for me.

however, I totally lose the signal when I go into the parking garage at work, but that's 10's of feet of concrete and building materials that are blocking the signal.

I wish. I can't go 1/4 mile without a hiccup or blip. So annoying. I'd think less of it is I wasn't PAYING for radio signal.

Same here. Sometimes it will lose the signal and then take miles to pick it back up. Others here have said the antenna placement is part of the reason, all I know is I don't lose the signal in any of our other vehicles in the places my Tundra does.

I wish. White Face, the Adirondacks in New York, and the Appalachians in PA. Those are speed bumps compared to where you roam!

Bad here too. I had it with my old Tahoe under overpasses and stuff. But now I lose reception under areas with lots of power lines or anything else. It's so frustrating....

It's not the hardware itself, or the location of the antenna, or the service. The buffer is too small in the firmware. There is some delay built in to the decoder which will allow the stream to continue through minor dropouts in the signal. Unfortunately whoever these head units come from didn't allow a big enough buffer to allow for much of a dropout. The four trucks I've had with built-in XM have all sucked for carrying over momentary dropouts. The little XM Roady standalone unit I use to use never dropped out.

Right. If it's a dedicated unit, it gets engineered to do it's job and just that. These all-in-one things we have in the dash are forced to do a little bit of everything so corners have to be cut somewhere.
Sure, there are units out that are better than what we have, but they are still a compromise somewhere. :)

I have aftermarket XM basic receiver and antenna. Only time it loses a signal is when going through a tunnel. Factory antenna has to be the source or crappy ass receiver. Root Cause Analisys......

Hi all, has there’s been any solutions found for the reception yet cause I don’t want to reinstall my portable dock and radio because I fear of getting tangled in the 300 feet of multiple wires!! Or should I just learn how to sing better !!!????

I lose the signal often in my 2019 Tundra. I don't understand why the receiver is not designed to buffer a minute or so of data so it can keep playing when the signal is temporarily lost. I doubt that I'll renew my XM/Sirius when it expires.

Pretty much the same as my truck it blips going under the flyovers and overpass on I-35 at the I-435 interchange. It comes right back though otherwise its good. For those saying it does it under branches my Tundra does not do that and not even my 16 civic does that and its much lower to the ground then my Tundra. I live in an area of the metro with a lot of trees and branches too and the signal goes right through it and works fine. I would either keep pestering the dealer or try another one to get it fixed and you are welcome to show them my post if you want if that does anything.
