What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

yea, but i had to grab the top of the shaft with some pliers to keep it from spinning. Ratcheting wrenches were a game changer.

yours were much more difficult to get on. That link shifty posted reminded me we might have ground on the bushings to get em to fit, while haveing to force the shaft up against the bottom bushing.

 

Wait, what does this mean? Should I have done this with the TT shocks when I installed the HD springs?

 

I'd think the shock want to clamp where they clamp. I wasnt able to compress em, but at full length they were about 1/2" longer than the stockers. The pic with the back of my truck jacked all the way up was over an inch too tall for the 5100's.

 

Check your bushings on top of the shock. When I lifted the rear mine were freaking squished to hell.

I'm letting mine come out naturally, I figure I'm about half way there.

Maybe this summer I will get to it. With those Heavy Duty leafs I doubt if I will even notice the difference though. I mean I put 1200-1300lb in the back and it barely squatted!

 

Yeah, here it is, i took a pic. treated 3/4 plywood and wet treated lumber, so prob more than the listed weight. Maybe I'm off on the weight...

 

Nah, I readjusted everything within days of lifting, once it hit home that I spaced on dealing with that.

Yeah, with HD springs out back and 700lb springs in front, ain’t nothing much moving on this truck. It’s pretty stiff. I measured before and after sticking 320lb of UPS batteries in the bed and it moved maybe 1/16”. And I have the cap on it which adds another 150# or so. The ATS HD springs are no joke.

I have one of those on order already. Didnt like the way the current one looked

 

Not sure about the truck holding together, but sort of, because fasteners are almost impossible to remove

 

mad annoying as they are. They catch the attention of other drivers so it’s kind of a safety feature.

I personally dislike getting it in the rear

Thinking it might be time to get new brakes in the rear of my 20 year old truck. Is this kit from Rock Auto everything i would need to make that happen?

Powerstop seems to be OK. I know a lot of people have problems with out of round drums when they're not OEM.

 

Although it's not something I've tried, I am with ya 1000% on this.

 

Is your truck still running WE calipers, or was it upgraded to WL? Now would be the time to buy WL calipers with the pads and rotors

As a carpenter, I see it like a piece of fascia thats been completely hollowed out out by termites, but still appears to be well in form and function due to multiple layers of latex paint over the years. Basically an empty shell. Not sure how that's relevant, but that's what comes to mind. Maybe you just need a paintjob @BroHon?
