I think you swayed me to pursue this setup. How's the ride compared to factory?

Thank you so much. Posts like this help so much for the rest of us. Just curios since you said no shims, do you have the 38 gal fuel tank?

6112 on lowest setting netted 0.75" lift over stock as advertised. Stock 2.5 gen TRD wheels. I installed these over a month ago but just now realized I haven't taken any pictures of the whole truck since then except this one! Enjoy.

@Skaufma0 The ride is considerably improved. It feels much smoother over bumpy asphalt and washboard dirt roads. It also feels less rigid than the stock Platinum suspension, better absorption and more cushioned feel without feeling sloppy. Handling feels as controlled as stock as well and it isn't sluggish at all on the 285x75's.

@radon222 Thanks! I wanted to include all of my specs in one post, I spent too many hours searching the forum for what fits and what doesn't given lift, offset ect. Tons of good info on here though if you're willing to search for it. I actually have the small 26 gal tank (and I hate it), my rig had no driver side lean even with a full tank so I decided no shims for me.

Thanks @Coachbuilder1! Your shackles are top quality and made a noticeable difference in ride.

@Savmikey47 post up pics when you get it done! My install was anything but smooth on a 10 year old pickup, had a swaybar end link nut break off the frame, and both of my lower shackle bolts were completely seized in the inner collar of the bushing. Hopefully you have smoother sailing than I did!

    Yes no maybe

Most likely yes since the common size is 295/70 on a +25. Likely just need to deal with the flaps

After going back and forth for years and reading non-stop reviews (You guys are AWESOME), I finally was able to find a set of 6112 with the 5100 from ShocksSurplus.com during the Christmas season when they ran a small sale on the set. In comparison to not being able to find it on Amazon, I had them set the setting to #3, 1.9", and left the rear at stock height. From the look of it, it just leveled out the truck to make it sit even without a rake. This works for me due to the access to the bed and not having to get a ladder to get up there... LOL. I did have to put in a truck bed step to get up there.

I went with the 5100 due to the lifetime warranty in comparison to the 5160 with only 90 days (I think). I figured I don't get to go off-road as often, so this would work best for my city/highway driving. I had my nephew put them on and do all the work; he works for Honda (not everyone is perfect), so he was able to use the shop to get it done.

Issues: I had gone to Firestone to get it aligned (bought the lifetime alignment a while back) and to see what the noise of metal grinding is when I turn all the way left or right. They got it done, and it was off quite a bit, but they said the rub is coming from the skid plate. I had tried to turn the wheel both ways and do not see anything touching from the fender skirt or the metal skid plate under, but when I drive it slowly, it starts to grind. I wanted to find out from you guys if this really is the skid plate and if it needs to be cut, how much should I cut, and where?

Overall: The ride is better than my stock shocks, and it takes on these stupid "speed bumps" on the VA roads like a champ. Roads are complete garbage here in the 757, and for some reason, they fix them only to be worse or deteriorate in a matter of months. Don't get me started on the Personal Property Tax and the shitty roads in VA. The ride is stiffer but not rough and feels more controlled and reactive to the steering wheel.

    My setup: 6112s @ 1.9, 5100 Rear @ Stock height, Stock UCA, Bridgestone DUELER A/T Revo 3 Sized 275/70R18.

Rubbing the skid plate is pretty common and I think most just bend it out of the way.

If you're on Facebook look up Tidewater Tundras and come to one of the meets. I would love to check your setup.

I never thought of just bending it out, thanks. I will see how far back it has to bend, maybe get the wife to help with the wheel and measure the gap needed.
No Facebook here, but i used to come out a while back but things have been busy and i don't get to do upgrades as often as i like. When is the next meet? Thanks again @radon222

How high are you going in the front? I’m assuming you’re leaving the rear stock height? With those wheels offset and 275 size tire you may have slight rubbing at full lock, maybe.

Nice poon in your profile pic btw.

You need to change the front mud flaps where body mount is at or take it out, it’s gonna rub no matter what.

Finally installed my set up. I went with 1.9 in front with stock height in the back. 275/70/18 wild peaks. Tires look too small now

Front wheel rear mud flaps, where the body mounts at…cause the offset of the rims, the corner of the tire will rub against the mud flaps where the body mount.

I ran 275/70-18 with 15 offset, that factory mud flap hump is sticking so far out there’s no way around it, either cut it out, remove it or just get a new universal mud flaps that are flat.
Just need to spend some time to make a bracket and buy some body panels plastic clips to make it work.

If you haven't pulled the trigger yet we have those guys over here at Hotshot Offroad, and are happy to price match as well as assemble. What I would probably recommend as well is a small carrier bearing drop as well to eliminate stop/go driveline vibrations. We could get you one of those for like $20.
