Make sure the inlet side of the pcv system is also clear.what the pcv takes out has to be replaced with new air, also the throttle body butterfly valve and IAC can effect oil consumption. Only other thing is do a compression test.
While the plugs are out drop in alittle atf. Thus practice does get the rings unstuck!

This is all because of Toyotas's stupid 10K oil change intervals on their new vehicles! We all know its complete bullcrap and destroys the rings! A class action lawsuit is warranted I feel!

5W30 every 5000-7500 miles since new. At 90K miles and has never burned a drop.

I move every 1-2 years "The Army Life for Me" Since owning the Tundra, I've lived in Washington State, Virginia, South Carolina, and am now in Kentucky....

It's 10 degrees right now, and I have no worries. Just ran a few errands. 5W flows FINE............. Regardless of what I drive, I am easy on the go pedal until the engine is at operating temperature.

Gotcha. I might just change to 5w30 then, I'm in Minnesota and currently -3F.

i just bought a pcv valve and getting ready to swap the old one.

i also put a bottle of fuel system cleaner in the tank and maybe should do some GDI deep clean. Gotta figure out where the MAF is at though.

Some would say in that cold to go with 0W30 in the winter in that cold, and it can't hurt, but I don't think the difference is that great. If you have the 5.7 it does NOT have Direct Injection.

The MAF is in the solid tube between the Air Filter Box and Throttle Body.

Anyone who waits 10k miles for an oil change is just asking for problems (this isn't directed at OP.) For those of us who live in areas with dusty gravel roads 3000 miles is a more appropriate change time-frame. The 5k point should be mandatory.

I just took the hose that connects to the pcv valve and it is oily in there. Is that normal?

I put 1 can of seafoam in a 1/2 tank of gas (use regular) and run the truck till the light comes on before every oil change. Plus the Italian Tune up is good fun too.

My wifes gmc terrain had an oil consumption issue, burned about a quart every 800 miles, they said we will do a consumption test and change your oil and dont touch for 2000 miles. I said fine when the motor blows I want it in writing that you are going to change it at no charge. They were like ok we will check it at 1000 I said fine and it was still enough to qualify for a free piston ring job

When you shake it does it make a rattle? if not it is stuck. Possibly could still be too little pressure but doubtful
