well shit I'm out for the count then if Sniv was hesitant. I'd say they are not fixable and came off the assembly line jacked up

 

The solution was different injectors, there's no point in solving WHY different injectors too

 

Its very odd 2 sets though! 16 injectors and no go wtf! Almost would have to bench test each injector at start up voltage and see what the heck is going on.

 

That's the argument that I made (actually that they were dirty), but then the second set were the same; so the Prospeeds went back in.

Of the few tunes that I've collected, the one from a 2017 (same year as yours) does not have access to Cranking Pulsewidth, as well as all earlier. Both of the 2018 and the one 2020 tunes I have all have it. Whether your truck has it or not remains to be seen.

 

Interesting. I will be picking through the tables and plots with a fine-tooth comb. I wonder if HP could add it, has to be some table controlling start up injector pulse somewhere in open loop operation I would think.

 

It is weird. @reywcms and myself are running the five 750's...

 

Wonder if it may be a high elevation deal especially if no table is there to be adjusted at altitude for start up.

 

I spent two weeks at 600ft and there was no difference with the rich starting. Actually, upon cranking, it started to momentarily make a disconcerting preignition knock when cranking. When I looked at the injector PW in the logs taken during cranking events, there was no difference between a proper start and the excessively rich ones. ~6ms if memory serves.

 

You did say at sea level the condition presisted my bad. What did Five O have to say about it? Seems like a refund should have been in order.

 

They told me that it was the tune but couldn't say what exactly as that wasn't their area of expertise, just that they claimed it wasn't the injectors. Rather than pursuing a refund, I asked for an exchange for a completely different set and that's how I got the set currently sitting in a storage unit. They were only installed for about 30 minutes. Technically I didn't even put miles on them. I installed them and tried a couple starting scenarios and when they failed there, reinstalled the Prospeeds that I had been using. Rather than trying to return those, I thought I'd offer them to anyone that'd be willing to try them.

 

Well that sucks man smh. Sounds like alot of wasted time fumbling with their injectors. I'm glad after all that you have prospeeds that actually work!

 

Same here. I don't understand why, but I'm much happier, and they allow me to return to using my remote start!

 

I’ve said it before but it’s so minor/ hardly happens that it doesn’t even bother me.

 

I saw this truck for sale which has been brought up on here before. He claims to have DW 800cc injectors. I didn’t know that was an option, maybe if you call them it is? Either that or he is wrong about what he has.

 

Maybe he meant 800mm wheel offset

 

I've occasionally wondered if many of these injectors, particularly the ones that are plug and play (the beige Densos) aren't merely factory units that have been reworked or altered somehow. Can't the mechanical/electrical internals be changed? Anyone have insight into that hypothesis?

 

That’s a good question on the reworking. I’ll take factory fresh Denso if available.

The pink port injectors that come with the IS-F engine (and several other models) are sold as 550cc. I wonder if the injectors from the later higher horsepower version are larger, or maybe some of the newer forced induction engines? Perhaps it’s time to gather a few different units up and send them out for flow testing.

Some of Toyota’s very latest engines have redesigned injectors. The 12 hole style has been replaced with a 10 hole that is claimed to offer even better atomization for stricter emissions.

 

Nothing to say of value, but I believe that is most likely the case and that is what I have assumed them to be.

I could probably order an LC500 port injector from my former work and flow test it if it’s not crazy expensive.

 

I know that injectors from other models are often sold as upgrades for models that come with smaller injectors, which is most likely what the Five-O units are. Since they are Denso, they are likely made for another Toyota model. Whether they are decapped, or altered in any other way is an unknown to me.

I dropped mine off at Kozmic motorsports and they said they didn't have adapters to test them...which I found odd. So, I took them to InjectorRx the week after Christmas, and I should hear back this week or next with testing/cleaning results. I was hoping to use these instead of my current ProSpeed injectors, more headroom, no harnesses, tabs for positioning, extended reach nozzle like stock units.

 

We'd all be interested to hear what they have to tell you.

 

Hey Viktor, great to see you here as well. Do you have test equipment?

The teal/green injector is part # 23209-38060. Applications include all the direct injected UR V8 cars, except for the IS-F, which receives the shorty pink w/ nice aluminum fuel rails. The pink 23209-31070, is also used on some V6 models. With both injectors being installed on lesser models, I wonder if the published number for the pink is real, never mind what the teal piece will show.

 

I don’t have professional test equipment, but I have a fuel rail with an FPR, a fuel pump, some hoses, a battery and a stopwatch
Just want to see what the injector costs before I commit to testing it.

 

That will work just fine.

You can bet the injector will cost roughly $100 - $150 USD.
